Legalise it

To: Florida State Congress
.....Marijuana should be legalized....
That is about as bluntly as anyone can put it.
But just to help everyone see the truth, here are some reasons why!

1) Marijuana use is less harmful and risky than the use of alcohol, tobacco, and many nonprescription drugs. It is the safest (currently) illegal drug. Marijuana is much less addictive than tobacco or alcohol. This is one reason why most people that smoked it in the 70’s were able to quit easily and not become “addicts”. Marijuana isn’t even physically addicting, unlike both alcohol and nicotine.
A doctor I know once told me personally that in his 30 some years of work, he has seen countless cases of medical problems from alcohol and tobacco, almost everyday. He said that he has yet to see or hear anyone complain of medical issues caused by smoking marijuana.
“Marijuana is far safer than many foods we commonly consume"- US Department of Justice

2) Legalization of marijuana would cut down on crime. Because marijuana is illegal, it is difficult to manufacture, and is expensive, so users often have to turn to crime to sustain their habit. Legalization would drive the price down and alleviate this problem. Currently, much of the crime that goes on is a result of territory disputes between dealers. Legalization of marijuana would hurt organized crime as a whole. If marijuana was legal, the entire infrastructure of organized crime involved in its manufacturing and distribution would lose any reason for existence because marijuana would be legally produced and sold at a much cheaper price by legitimate companies. Police officers and suspected informants often face retribution by gangs and drug dealers. Legalization of marijuana would simply eliminate the need for dealers and put a stop to all this. Legalization would cut down on corruption in the law enforcement, the government. Officials will no longer be tempted into accepting bribes, and pocketing large amounts of drug money.

3) Legalization would free up resources to fight legitimate crimes. It would end prison overcrowding, as many prisoners are sitting in jails for drug-related convictions. It would free up the court system and the police and allow them to concentrate on other crimes. Fighting marijuana-related “crimes” is costing us tax money.

4) Legalizing marijuana would make it safer for users. One of the main reasons why marijuana is unsafe right now is because it isn’t regulated, and its quality isn’t monitored by anyone. When people buy marijuana, they don’t know for sure what they’re getting or where it’s been. By legalizing, the goverment could safely control the potency of distributed marijuana.

5) The government has no right to interfere with people’s personal freedom as it is currently doing. Smoking marijuana only has the potential to hurt the health of the user. An individual should have the right to choose to use it. People are allowed to skydive, and drive cars. There are risks in those and many other activities, but the government isn’t regulating them. Sure, smoking marijuana does put others at minimal risk through second hand smoke and the user’s actions towards others, but this is also valid for alcohol and tobacco. This is why driving while stoned should remain illegal.

6) It can help stop suffering from many medical conditions. Marijuana helps increase appetite for cancer patients and could possibly help those with eating disorders. Children are even currently given a pill form of THC for conditions such as ADD and ADHD.

Many people are lead by the goverment to believe that marijuana causes the user to become violent. I believe that even though it may have different effects depending on the person, marijuana smoking usually causes the user to become extremely mellow. I, along with many others, believe that smoking herb is good for the soul and meditation purposes. Smoking it could even end local and global confilcts.

So if you agree with the any above points, please be sure to sign my petition, so that one day, hopefully our dream can become realized!

-Toke On-

Sincerely,

Lousy brandon drivers

does anybody in Brandon actually KNOW how to drive or do they just get behind the wheel, close their eyes and go!!

Why is it FL drivers always have to drive in the LEFT lane and do it going 10-15 mph UNDER the speed limit and then exit to the right two seconds before their exit ramp--
Every afternoon Bloomingdale is backed up--not due to an accident--no due to some moron driving or should I say crawling along in the left lane--and don’t get me started about people who just pull out without even looking to see if the road is clear----honestly people--just because you want the roadway doesn’t mean you have the right of way---
driving here makes me wonder if any of these drivers have even ever cracked open the dmv handbook or if they just presented a DL from some other state, some other country, some other planet.

One thing is for sure they are definetely color blind when it comes to traffic lights--RED=STOP--GREEN=GO
used to think it was a simple thing and then I came to FLoridadumb--
what’s the answer????--a tank to run them over, an airhorn to blast them with--a petition to have every driver in FL road tested--???

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested six people in an ongoing investigation into graffiti in Brandon. Is graffiti a problem in your area? What should happen to those arrested?

Eco-Smart Noise Control gets Brandon Market Test

I’m writing to let you know that new, dB2-4Walls™, a new noise-reduction solution for homeowners, will be given a test-run in the Brandon Costco. The dB2-4Walls™ will be introduced at the Brandon Costco the week of July 26th, 2009.

Eco-smart dB2-4Walls™ are constructed from industrial waste that would otherwise be added to landfills. They sequester sound from room to room in homes, apartments or condominiums. dB2-4Walls™ reduce noise by 75%. dB2-4Walls™ are applied like wallpaper and can then be painted over.

dB2-4Walls™ are great for families who want to block annoying sound out of their baby’s room, or contain sound in a home theater or a teenager’s room – and they’re made from waste left behind by luxury auto manufacturers that would normally find its way into landfills.

They’re sold in 4’x 8’ rolls with an adhesive-side for simple installation. Measure, cut, and apply – that’s it.

New CVS in Seffner? Not the best use of a prime corner lot…

Some prime corner real estate has been available for months now at the corner of MLK and Parsons.

Remember the long-dormant gas station that reopened for a year - the one where the employees looked at you with cool hatred at being interrupted from their personal phone calls, and where gas was 15 cents a gallon more than the local RaceTrac on any given day?

I guess enough of us voted with our dollars and sent them into oblivion; it’s been roped off for months now. This is right next to the Burger King that’s been boarded up for two years.

My wife and I have been thinking (assuming that the lots were razed and combined) how appropriate a Sonic or a Chick-Fil-A would be.

Unfortunately, a sign went up recently, meekly announcing a CVS drug store.

This will be great for late-night Ben & Jerry’s cravings, but is another chain drug store the best use of this corner lot?

Imagine the kick in the pants that our complacent McDonalds and Checkers would have felt as hundreds lined up for waffle fries, chicken nuggets and styrofoam soft drink cups that stay cool for 2 hours.

I guess I should be just happy it’s not another freakin’ AMSCOT.

No parental control of running children , people just milling about, aggressive shoppers and inept sales associates. Avoid this store , shop only in the early morning and avoid the “ UNCLE SAM “ shopping rush the place is a mad house.

Halloween fun and crabby neighbors

Decided to go all out this year and decorate the yard---Created these funny tombstones to depict their ultimate causes of death. Then that led me to make a tombstone to honor my crabby neighbor who is constantly siccing the HOA on me about my imperfect yard. IN my defense the yard is not horrible or overgrown in fact the area she ocmplains about most is only visible to her and a few cows. Anyhow I made a tombstone to her as follows:

Here lies the neighbor from hell
Oh the gripes she loves to tell
the grass too long, too short too grean
oh my word that witch was mean
but alas I must confess
that this is where my dog does mess
so at last her crabby ass
is greening up the neighbor’s grass

It won’t change anything but it will make me feel alittle better and halloween is so much fun anyway
