Should Westchase build office space?

The Westchase homeowner association has been debating whether to build office space for its property manager and perhaps to serve as a small sheriff’s substation.

Some critics have objected to the project as expensive and unnecessary. They favor looking into other options before constructing a new building.

So far, a draft budget sets aside $80,000 for 2008 costs associated with such a project. Westchase’s voting members are expected to discuss the draft budget next month.

Should Westchase build office space?

But before we take time to look back and see what happened in 2008, we want to know what you think were the most important headlines in the Northwest News & Tribune. Whether it was the opening of Town ‘N Country Commons, road construction on Gunn Highway or a successful fundraiser.

WESTCHASE..NO PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION HERE!!! OR ELSE!!

Well Westchase has done it again! First the flag police were out in force a few years back and now they’re on the attack again, this time on the prowl for campaign signs. With only 19 days till the election, it’s good to see that the Community Association has nothing better to do than to drive around and waste time and money taking pictures of political signs in the front yards of homes. What does this nonsense cost? If the board had any common sense they would realize that the sign could only be up for another 19 days and maybe use their heads and some discretion before sending out these silly letters. It’s only one of the most important elections our country has ever had, in one of its most difficult times, so it’s good to see that the Community Association is still acting as Playground Police and taking a blind eye to real world issues. This is what happens when you give a civilian with a camera a little bit of authority over a 2 mile area, it goes straight to their heads. Maybe this is a way that Westchase plans to counter the falling markets, raising money by fining people with signs. I’m sure a hundred dollar a day fine could really help the community in their efforts to send out MORE LETTERS and take MORE PICTURES of signs. Money well spent! Westchase should think of the election as a holiday (wait Election Day is already a legal holiday in some states, I guess Westchase blocked Florida from being one of them) and allow these signs to be posted, just as they allow those ridiculous blow up ornaments on front lawns during Christmas. I guess in Westchase we’re just supposed to pretend that this election doesn’t matter and just keep living in our perfect little fantasy world....THE WORLD OF WESTCHASE!

Little kids and especially little girls were getting sucked up at the drains, the girls get tangled up at the drains because of their hair and in a commercial pool the suction is so strong that their little bodies are being held at the bottom or side of the pools at the drains. Here in Florida all pool drains for commercial pools will have to be changed out by Dec 20, 2008 and inspected. Residential pools the notification is NOT being sent out. At the end of October the new drain covers will be available to be installed are called Hayward drain covers and in my pool I am going to install a vascular cover.

SCHOOL BUS WOES

I am afraid that in the interest of saving money and a tighter budget ,the one who have to pay are the kids. longer and more dangeorus walks to catch the school bus. We save a dollar in gas, but God-forbid there is a crime against a child, we will spend thousands to recover that child, police, etc etc. I do not understand why we rather pay for the problem after the fact than PREVENTION>
