Okay, it is obvious at this point the Bucs are out of control acquiring a half dozen QBs this off season.  With the rights to Plummer still on (and he still has not filed retirement papers, just like Brett Farve has not leading to rumors he still wants to play), the Bucs technically have 6 QBs under contract.  Everyone now knows that Gruden likes having three QBs, particularly when his starter is as old as Jeff Garcia (think back to Brad Johnson as well).  So the question is, which QBs do you keep?

I think everyone will agree that Garcia is part of the mix no matter what.  I also think that many believe that Griese is also part of the mix considering he played well in the west coast offense under Gruden (not as well in Chicago, but better than the other options they had last year until the whole offense caved-in).  That leaves third string.

In my opinion, although Gruden loves him, Gradkowski is on the short end of the stick since now he has played many games and besides a couple of starts, has played horrible.  Now that teams know to defend against him by eliminating the short pass, they leave everything over 10 yards open and watch as he misses the receiver.  His days in Tampa are done I believe.

Plummer is still in the mix if he decides to play again, and probably has a chance of making the team if he decides to come back.  My guess is that he stays out of football, and does not sign the retirement papers.  He will keep hoping the Bucs give up on him but it seems to me his career is going to end in Tampa unless something makes the Bucs change course on owning him.

Simms seems to be at the end of the line. He skipped voluntary training camp and seems on the outs with Gruden.  We cannot rule him out yet but his interest in staying is not that high it appears.

That leaves McCown.  He played well but makes big mistakes that can cost games.  He has an amazing athleticism and he plays like a younger version of Garcia except for the critical errors.  He has a chance of making the team.

My guess is that if Griese plays well in camp the lineup will be either Garcia, Griese, and Simms or Garcia, Greise, and McCown.  What do others think? For this poll, I give my vote to McCown.

Ive always been a fan of Chris Simms, wishing he was the franchise QB we’ve never had. Unfortunately I feel he is now running out of leash with Gruden. The guy’s been handed a lot of bad cards, but he’s played hard when we’ve had him out there. He had a rough season before he went down, leaving a bad taste in your mouth and many have forgotten the year of Mike Carey . (Bucs playoff loss at him to the Redskins.) Simms had us in the right direction. Sadly, the right direction NOW is drafting a QB to eventually fill Garcias spot. Griese and Simms are career back ups. Keep four (McCown) and just trade Plummer. What a waste of talent that guy is. Hopefully we win a SuperBowl with him sittin on the couch and we DONT give his (REAR) a ring!

I guess most people on this board don’t have an opinion about the QBs, considering how many the team has, it seems hard to ignore.

Interesting thoughts on Simms.  I like the guy, but for some reason he and Gruden just do not see eye to eye.  He is like Brad Johnson in that he is relatively immobile, and Gruden just does not like that type of QB for the most part.  All the other QBs the team has can move fairly well.

I think he is the biggest questionmark on making the team - either Gruden will keep him or let him go.  Not sure which way he will go on that.  It will be the last year of his contract, so if he does come back it will probably be his last year here.

It’s all crap. Gruden is the farthest thing from a QB coach I’ve seen. He only success was Brad Johnson and he was a Dungy guy. Gracia did OK last seasonwhich had nothing to do with working with Gruden. What we need is a QB as a coach. Gruden needs to go .
