Whats with the love fest for DeSean Jackson. He’s a smurf that will never be able to take a route across the middle. I can’t figure it out. He’s fast thats all. 5’9” 160, enough said.

I would trade the pick to Arizona for Aquan Boldin or Detroit for Roy Willaims.

I like the idea of trading that pic for a Boldin or Williams but we know that won’t happen.  I’m not that enamored with Desean Jackson either, but it’s no secret they need another highly productive receiver.  If I’m GM I probably go for one of the top corners left and get a WR second round.

If he’s on the board, I’m taking DeSean Jackson.  He’s a threat to score every time he catches the ball in the open field.  His highlights indicate that he has the potential to be a star, IMO.  Of the WRs on the current Bucs roster, who else is as fast and can run pretty good routes with decent hands?  He could potentially help with the return game right now, and I know it’s a concern of Gruden’s.  The offense needs speed, and call me crazy, but I believe if Jackson gets enough playing time with the team that drafts him, he could challenge for rookie oty.  That being said, I’ve done quite a bit of homework on this draft, more than any other, because the future is now for Gruden/Allen, and unfortunately, I have a feeling another player will be rated higher on the Bucs board, even if Jackson’s there.  That’s my concern, that they will draft future help, not immediate help.  And yes, I’ve heard all about how none of the WRs are worthy of a 1st round pick.  I believe DJ helps his new team now, but I could be wrong.

The pick here should be either Mike Jenkins, Cromartie, or Brandon Flowers.

Mike Jenkins: He’s a hometown kid and he has all of the measureables you want in a corner.  He also has a lot of experience and could develop very well.

Cromartie:  As a corner in this draft he has all of the best physical atribute.  He’s the fastest, he’s 6’1, and oh yeah he’s really fast.  I know he went to a small school, but I trust Monte and Raheem Morris(defensive backs coach) to develop him properly.  If he is anything like his cousin in San Diego who was also a first round pick, then enough said.

Brandon Flowers:  He is not the speedster the other two are, but he is more instinctive and would fit perfectly into a cover two system.  I saw him blow up a tight end at the line of scrimage on a run play, then take down the running back, it was very impressive because he’s a corner.

If you look at the Bucs coaching staff as a whole, the coaches who develop players to their greatest potential are on the defensive side of the ball, specifically Raheem Morris who rejoined the team last year.  I think drafting a top teer cornerback would be better for next year and for the future.

However, if these guys are not available or for some other reason we don’t take them, they sould look at receiver or offensive line.  Desean Jackson might be a “little” overrated, or he could end up being the next Steve Smith, he’s a crap shoot.  He has been traing with Jerry Rice though, and that speaks volumes about him.
In the end who knows, maybe we could mortgage our entire draft by trading for Lito Sheppard and trading to get Glenn Dorsey.  I then would procede to call the Bucs and thank them for an awesome draft.  THE END.

I’ve been against taking a corner with the first pick all along, but I really like the idea of MIke Jenkins at 20. Otherwise, I suggest we select a receiver.

Then, with a second pick, decide between a corner (if Jenkins wasnt available) or a defensive lineman. (try to trade up to early second round pick - Plummer, Simms, White.)

By the third round, we should have a plamaking receiver or a dominant defensive player. If we havent selected a QB, now is the time to scoop up an available Colt Brennan. He’ll have some tiem to learn the system and I think he’d fit well.

Our later picks I’m not sure about. I think maybe selecting another receiver or a running back. I see a split between the Bucs taking one offensive player and one defensive player with 4-5.

All in all I’m, pretty excited about this draft and I intend to duck out early from my friends baby shower to try and catch the Bucs pick live on t.v. I hope we knab the next generation BUccaneer Hall of Famer.
