This week, Jefferson’s Stephen Garcia and Plant’s Robert Marve meet in arguably the top matchup of quarterbacks in Hillsborough County history. Who will come out on top? And who is the better quarterback?

Marve by far. Not just because I go to Plant and because I know him, but because hes by far the better athlete. He’s got this thing about him that is far more complex than any other player from any other school. He’s gone through so much and doesn’t let anything stop him. He works harder on and off the field. He’s a team player. And personally, he’s a much more respectable person than Garcia.
Love you Rob!

I can’t believe this is even a topic. i have watched Garcia for 3 yrs and is the BEST I have ever seen in high school football. I saw Marve play one time and was not impressed at all. As far as being a better athlete, have you watched Garcia run this year he is stronger and quicker then he ever was. NO COMPARISON Garcia by far

I’m answering this question in terms of which quarterback I want leading my team. This is definetely going to sound biased because I am not a fan of the Jefferson Dragon football team. OK HERE GOES--2 years ago--I would have taken Garcia--he was further along in his development physically and had a better supporting cast nurturing his development. Obviously he got an earlier start.
Weiner wasn’t even around at the time for Plant. Garcia really is an incredible quarterback--sick. He’s got guts, he’s got the arm, the legs, the stats---etc etc.....Best of luck to him---Garcia will be a starting Div. 1-A quarterback (probably for Spurrier based on the number of gamecock fans posting on his blog from the state of South Carolina)--that said, I am not fond of the dragons. I am not fond of Garcia because he is a dragon. I am not fond of Fenton either. In fact, the only thing decent about the dragonsl is good ol’ Pop Cuesta. This is no disrespect to Garcia--I like you as a quarterback--I don’t like you as Jefferson’s quarterback. I wish you the best in the future--it is a bright one--........except this Friday night......
Once again--I’m biased and admit it.....Comparing these two is like comparing apples to oranges...both are good and sweet, but they are different.
That said---Give me Marve anyday--The major difference between the two is the level of improvement each have made in terms of being a better quarterback--I’m not saying that Garcia hasn’t improved at all since his earlier days--in fact he has gotten better. BUT ABSOLUTELY NO WHERE NEAR MARVE’S GAINS. So much in fact that’s why he IS BETTER NOW than GARCIA the magic dragon. Win or lose Friday night--Marve has a much bigger upside in college--I assure you of that--physically he hasn’t even peaked yet.
Now--taking the bias out for a second--let’s all simply celebrate and cherish the moment that two of the best football players in our county’s history will be on the same field in a heated rivalry on the same night at Jefferson H.S.--get your tickets now and don’t miss a great moment in our county’s athletic history. There are alot of other great high school players out there on the field this night also--obviously led by these two…

KADR--you already lost your credibility in one post bres----you need to get out more--Ask the other 8 high schools this year that have played him what they think---I’ve seen it---for you to minimalize his talent already throws out what you know about high school football-I have seen wayyyy more high school football than you.......BOTH ARE GREAT QUARTERBACKS AND BOTH ARE IMPRESSIVE--Go get a degree from Bristol University

btrain44 I never said Marve was not a good quarterback. My opinion is that I do not think that these 2 are that close because of how GREAT Garcia is. Don’t sit there and tell me I have lost credibility, which I am sure I have alot more then you. I am stating an opinion of what I have seen and yes I have seen a lot of high school football, and am much more knowledgeable then you would ever be in the game of football. Also I think Garcia is more calm and collected out there on the field and things come much easier for him, because of his natural talent. (oh no there goes all of my credibility with that opinion, WHATEVER) Both are impressive but one of them is much much more impressive. As far as the Bristol comment I am sure you do not even know what a degree looks like.

Exhibit A: “btrain44 I never said Marve was not a good quarterback”
Exhibit B: “ I saw Marve play one time”
Exhibit C: “ not impressed at all”
Exhibit D: “As far as being a better athlete, have you watched Garcia run this year he is stronger and quicker then he ever was. NO COMPARISON Garcia by far”
Exhibit E: VIA TBO.COM
STEPHEN GARCIA
School: Jefferson. Year: Senior.
Height: 6-foot-3. Weight: 218 pounds.
Future college: Choosing between South Carolina, Florida, Oklahoma and Auburn.
Team record: 8-1, 2-0 in district.
2006 statistics: 2,209 yards and 24 TDs.
ROBERT MARVE
School: Plant. Year: Senior.
Height: 6-foot-2. Weight: 195 pounds.
Future college: Verbally committed to the University of Alabama.
Team record: 8-0, 2-0 in district .
2006 statistics: 2,283 yards and 28 TDs.
Exhibit F: “It’s going to be a showcase of the two best quarterbacks in Hillsborough County, but more important than that, it’s going to be for homefield advantage in the playoffs. That is really what they are fighting for,” Hillsborough football coach Earl Garcia said. “It’s a great game for Plant and Jefferson, and a great day for Hillsborough County.”
NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL???? WHAT GAME WERE YOU WATCHING KID? WHEN HAS HE HAD A BAD GAME? I guess Plant padded all those stats.
VERDICT: Make a case for either, but definetely not “GARCIA BY FAR”—There IS A COMPARISON BY FAR--You don’t know much about football--

Garcia has already showed all he can, hes not gonna play any better than he already has. Rob, on the other hand, still has way more to put out. He keeps improving every game. Yeah, Garcia has talent, but Marve has more than that. Has anyone here actually sat down and watched him on film? He’s unbelievable. You know its impressive when even the refs have to stand for a second in awe at the game and say “Wow, that kid’s special. He’s unreal.” Not saying Garcia isn’t good, we all know he is. And seriously take in to consideration that Marve’s stats surpass Garcia’s, even with one game less.

It makes me laugh when I hear garcia this garcia that.
If anyones stats are padded its his. All the onside kicks they ran against sickles so he could get the yards record? haha.
Marve is the better athlete, he is able to run around for about 9 seconds while his WRs get open and bomb a pefrect pass to the open reciever.
I put my money on garcia in college because Marve isnt the brightest kid, i know i have had many a class with him.
But friday night Marve is going to rip into jefferson.
I will bet my bottom dollar on it.
Marve will have the better high school career
Garcia will be better in college if he is able to learn more about the game and play with a program that will develop him.
Neither will make it to the pros.
but friday night Marve>Garcia.
Plant>Jefferson.

btrain44 i dont want to get in a an argument about this, its all in fun, Marve is a respectable quarterback but in my opinion Garcia is the better of the 2 by quite a bit right now (only my opinion) Other college experts must share that same opinion otherwise you would see Marve plastered all over Television and the internet like Garcia is. I do agree with you it is going to be great game Friday, with a lot of talent on the field for both teams, besides the 2 Quarterbacks. Good luck to both PLant and Jefferson should be a great one

ok, look here, the ONLY reason Garcia is so highly recognized is cuz he inherited a good team n he went 2 a state championship game, but no1 has seen how Marve has improved as a player, taking over a 1-9 team, taking us 2 a 3-7 n then 2 a 9-3 season w/a district championship, n now we r 8-0, and as a person after his step father died, n as a student, bringin his grades up, i kno this cuz im his center, i c him everyday, i kno what he is all about, n hes the real deal, Garcia was good as a sophomore, n hes gotten better, but he hasnt improved nearly as much as marve has in 3 years, n 4 that i think, and know that Robert is better, more humble than Garcia, ill take my boy over Garcia any day of the week… n plz if ur gona say sumthin, make sure its right, Weiner was the coach, not nelson sophomore year, if nelson was the coach, I guarantee that Marve wouldn’t b as good as he is, not knockin him @ all, but nelson wouldn’t have worked w./ him, n on top od that, we as a team wouldn’t b as good, n 2nd not 2 say thay we don’t wana win everytime we put on a helmet n shoulder pads, but 4 that spring game, it’s a spring game, so ya they won 16-0 in 1 half, look @ last years game, we were down by 20 goin into the 3rd qtr, n we ended up comin back n winnin 26-23, only allowing 3 pts the rest of the way…
