Shalom,

In Florida, an atheist became incensed over the preparation of Easter and
Passover holidays. He decided to contact his lawyer about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays while atheists had no holiday to Celebrate.

The case was brought before a wise judge. After listening to the long, passionate presentation by the lawyer, the Judge banged his gavel and declared,
“Case dismissed!”

The lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and said,
“Your honor, how can you Possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and many other observances.
Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah...yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!”

The judge leaned forward In his chair and simply said,
“Obviously your client is too confused to even know about, much less celebrate his own atheists’ holiday!”

The lawyer pompously said,
“Your Honor, we are unaware of any such holiday for Atheists. Just when might that holiday be, your Honor?”

The judge said,
“Well it comes every year on exactly the same date -April 1st!
Since our calendar sets April 1st as ‘April Fools Day,’
consider that Psalm 14:1 and Psalm 53 state,
‘The fool says in his heart, there is no
God.’
Thus, in my opinion, if your client says there is no God, then by The Scriptures he is a fool, thus April 1st is his holiday!”

It would be so great if everyone just accepted everyone else’s religious preferences or lack thereof. But alas, it will never happen and the wars will continue. I don’t like to read religious bashing and I don’t like to read atheist bashing, the fights will never end and it’s a mute point. Each should do their best to be better groups of people in my mind and then they wouldn’t have anything to fight about. The continuous hate amazes me especially from people who consider themselves good religious people.

You’re absolutely right. That’s why I read the ‘joke’ which was written from (and I venture a guess) a Christian standpoint.. and I highly doubt that this would ever really happen. But hey, taking a jab at another religion (or lack thereof) will be ‘forgiven’ at some point, right? It’s all a war, and like you said.. it will continue on unless we all get our heads out of our you-know-whats.

Yes, the post was meant to be funny!  Katerpunk, “I highly doubt this would ever really happen”??

I’m not going to explain why the story is funny.  If you have to explain a joke, well, it loses something in the translation.

I hardly call it “bashing” anyone.  If anything, the atheists have been the ones bashing Christianity for years now, and have been exercising and exhausting their rights and (our patience) to sue everything religious under the sun.  Why, because they’re OFFENDED!

So let’s hope that the couple threads here that chastise this harmless joke, are sending the atheists the same admonishments!

Katerpunk, yep, I agree with you on one thing and that is, “we all need to get our heads out of our you-know-whats”

Peg, I doubt it happened. It’s a flat-out joke. Unless you got it from a news site, which I would love to see. But in all- it looks like a forward email joke.

Michaela, I never said it wasn’t funny, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to ‘get the joke’. But I’m sure if I were to post a few christian jokes on here, I doubt alot of people would get a few kicks out of it and would be offended.

forgot to comment on that one:

Yes Atheists do, along side with Christians, Catholics, Muslims, Buddhists, Agnostics, Scientologists, and so on.

I understand your point.  Remember this however, as I said in my last post, religious groups have been the receivers of the wrath of the offended atheists these past few years.  And most of the time most of us have ‘turned the other cheek’.  I can tell you it’s very difficult to do when you have your traditions taken away from you from people who themselves, don’t know how to let things go or just look the other way.

I would submit to you, that we are not the ones that should be told to ‘take it easy’.  As we (religious groups) are not the ones who have camped out at this countrys’ law courts demanding our ‘rights’.  Personally, I wouldn’t mind it at all, if we started doing just that.

At any rate, it’s still only a joke and a good one at that!  The atheists can try ‘turning THEIR cheeks’ for once.

I also understand your point. I’m not an extremist anit-religious person. I simply turn my cheek to anything I don’t understand, and continue on my way. I just wish the rest of the world could take on that concept, there would be much less hate and destruction across the world.

And so it continues....turn the page. *sigh*

Peace comes from within, nobody can take that away from you. Words are just words, symbols are just symbols. Erase the words, take the symbols down, it has not changed who you are or what you believe in. I can’t understand the hatred from either side. No wonder wars are fought over this very same thing, everyone thinks they are right and the other is wrong. Sad.

It’s as I said in another thread regarding war and religion, people don’t seem to be able to learn from history, therefore it’s bound to be repeated.

Trouble happens when one forces their views on someone else, OR gets easily offended and then demands that there be changes made.  Because their delicate sensibilites simply cannot tolerate something that they don’t agree with.  i.e. atheists vs. religion of ANY kind.

Then there are those around the world who want to rid the world of any other kind of religion except their own.  Those people are called terrorists.

We don’t have to agree with everything.  We can love something and yes we can hate something there is nothing wrong with either emotion.  We are human.  It is how you deal with those emotions that matter.  For instance I hate the fact that atheists don’t believe God.  To me it doesn’t get any sadder than that.  But that’s their business!  And it doesn’t offend me.  I wish they too would be much less offended of things that they don’t agree with.

Same thing goes for all other religions and people.  I also know that’s a pipe dream!  But we can still dream.

I cannot agree with you that hate is ok. Nothing good has ever come from that emotion. I also cannot agree with you in your viewpoint that the atheists are the only intolerable ones on this earth. Your statements can apply to both sides as I’ve seen in this thread. Each is intolerable of each other. The religious want their old ways to remain forever, the non-religious want their views recognized. I wish there was a happy medium but until “hate” is eliminated it will not happen. Kinda reminds me of John Lennon song.............
