Hello.

I have two questions.

1) When will the time be corrected on the forums to match daylight savings time?

2) Whe you view a member’s profile, what does the “Member Local Time” represent?  Is it the time zone that particular member is sitting in ... or mine?

Thank you for your assistance.

Above two questions answered in reverse order.

How to check PMs -

First you have to login to the forums.

Then look for “Your Control Panel” at the top of the page to the right of your username.

Clicking that will open your control panel. On the left hand side look for “Private Messages” it will probably have a “+” sign next to it if you have never opened it before.

Click the plus sign. You should now have a list of functions:

Bulletin Board
Compose New Message
- InBox (0)
- Sent (0)
Trash (0)
Edit Message Folders
Buddy List
Blocked List

The “InBox” will contain any PM sent to you, and you can reply after reading the message.

“Compose New Message” allows you to send messages to anyone registered in the forums. If you don’t know their screen name you will have to use the magnifying glass to the left of the “Recipients” or “CC” fields to search for the user.

Time Zones

1) When will the time be corrected on the forums to match daylight savings time?

I still haven’t found out how to change this, yet.

2) Whe you view a member’s profile, what does the “Member Local Time” represent?  Is it the time zone that particular member is sitting in ... or mine?

I tried testing this a few ways, and it seems to be based off of their time zone.

Jim,

How do you reply to a post where the original post you are replying to is shown in your reply?

There are at least two ways. You have to be logged in for either to work.

The simple way is to press the “quote” button underneath the post you wish to quote.

Example 1 Screenshot

The second way is to select only the text you wish to quote with your cursor. Press Control C to save it to the clipboard. Then press Reply like normal. Now press Control V in the subject area of your message. Select the text you wish to quote with your cursor. And press the quote button in the reply window.

Example 2 Screenshot

You can also use the simple first method, then just delete any text you do not wish to quote.

There is always more than one way to skin the internet, so go with what works for you.

Jim,

In reviewing my much-needed dose of the forums, I have found a problem.  There seems to be two “SOUTH SHORE” Communities.  The only way I found to view both at the same time, is to enter any one of the committee’s first.  Then once inside the forums follow the top link at the top of this page, just under NEWS, and click on FORUM HOME.  Once on that page move down to the city forums and until you find both SOUTH SHORES community’s listed.  One has nine topics posted and the other has four topics posted.
If you should need a filler community, I have always felt Ybor should be its own community.  Lots to do and see in that one little town.  Cigars, Parades, events, history and tons more.

I’m not sure why we had a duplicate South Shore forum.

But where there were two, now there is one.

Also, I added an Ybor Forum. So type away with anything Ybor related in there.

I see that a long topic title or a long link causes the forum section to extend under the advertisements. Is there a way to widen the view? It only covers about 75% of my browser screen. If not, is there a way to limit the length of a topic title? You have explained how to use the <a> function to condense a link.

I am trying to post my support for plastic bins for recycling, but there doesn’t seem to be a place for that.  It is in today’s Suncoast News on the first page under Bin There?  We are in a condo complex and I have to take our recyclables to Pine Hill since no bins are supplied to us.  This is several miles away and I don’t understand why bins are not available to us, because we have about 60 units here, which would benefit the city significantly.  When I read that $150 million would be required to add to the ability to burn trash collected for electricity, I think all should help deter this possibility and the ciy should make it easier for folks to RECYCLE.

Unfortunately we have to stay inside this template. So when creating topic title, links or anything else on the site it is best to try to stay inside the space you have.

I use Tinyurl to compress long links that I want to post on forums.

Best way to get keep a topic title shorter is just to edit it down.

Suncoast Pasco, or Suncoast Pinellas?
