you can emial, private message and ask all you like, but to get a response out of the morderators is rare. They are busy people apparently. I know of several members, including myself who would like to volunteer monitoring and removing spam posts and blocking IP’s of said users, but have yet to get a response. I ran a board for several years and never had a spam problem because I kept up with it and had a couple helpers for when I was no on. I see hundreds in not more bogus usernames that need to be deleted… but they allow the spam to continue.

All we can do is *bump* legit topics and try to push the spam posts to the bottom of the page.

Remember, NEVER click a link (unless you know the user), especially in a newbie user’s signature or post.

Every single forum section is filled with spam, the Religion, Highlands and Polk county boards are most active and seem to keep it down but TBO forum admins need to either allow those of us who have willingly attempted to volunteer to delete and block the spam or they need a moderator that will stop it from continuing.

All of this spam threatens each and every forum user and it seem TBO forum staff is not taking the threat seriously. The links contained within those spam threads contain Trojans and viruses along with hijackers and phishing programs.

It would take only two volunteers, maybe just one to go through and delete each spam thread and pseudo posts (hidden spam throughout the forum) with spam links in the signatures lines and then block the user-name and then the corresponding IP address and then report it all to the FTC.

It would not take a lot, would be quite fun really and easy. I( worry they will eventually close down our forums because of it, even when a couple of us have tried to offer free help.

I have found 3 other online message boards/forums for Highlands County People(not including Newssunnews since they do not seem to be allowing new members)...so maybe there are other forums for other areas as well?

Someone did respond twice to people yesterday, the spam was removed but now just coming right back. The only thing I can suggest is find a new forum home, or make one ourselves.

This is the second time I have been to this forum and I still do not know how to start a new topic. Is this forum no longer in operation? If so, why was I allowed to join? Michae1

Having a problem posting with Firefox.  OK with IE.

If you can describe the specific problem, and which version of Firefox you are using, we will attempt to replicate and fix the problem.

I am using version 2.0.0.1 of Firefox and it seems to work.

Jim,

How do you reply to a post where the original post you are replying to is shown in your reply?

There are at least two ways. You have to be logged in for either to work.

The simple way is to press the “quote” button underneath the post you wish to quote.

Example 1 Screenshot

The second way is to select only the text you wish to quote with your cursor. Press Control C to save it to the clipboard. Then press Reply like normal. Now press Control V in the subject area of your message. Select the text you wish to quote with your cursor. And press the quote button in the reply window.

Example 2 Screenshot

You can also use the simple first method, then just delete any text you do not wish to quote.

There is always more than one way to skin the internet, so go with what works for you.
