Sadly, it appears that the Muslim community has done a poor job of policing itself. While other segments of our free society do not exercise this option, the followers of Islam are a close knit, some say even clannish, group of people to whom outsiders are not welcome. So if they do not wish to have US Marshals utilizing dynamic entry with no-knock warrants, then perhaps they should start to yank on the leash of the more radical elements within their house, instead of crying about the pain and how unfair it is that they are all treated like terrorists.
THEY DON’T LIKE IT,LEAVE… THIS IS THE UNITED STATES,OUR LAWS AND RULES..
It is obvious that this is no longer an arguement worth fighting. A silver spoon by no means. I have worked from the time I was 16, although my family was upper middle class. I work every day, and would much rather my daughter see a low salary than to have her know what it is to use food stamps.
I don’t agree with everything Bush does. No one person can agree with everything another does for we are all individuals. There is a higher purpose and opening one’s mind to different perspectives is part of life. When we cease to learn we cease to live.
There is an old saying “The man who lives by the word of the newspaper is less well read than he who reads nothing at all”.
If an American were caught in another country doing something like this they would torture and behead, dragging bodies through the streets in celebration. Here, we feed them, clothe them, tend to their medical care.
I attended 25 funerals, all friends and co-workers after September 11, 2001. Some we knew and loved were never found. Empty caskets were buried. This took place in Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. and New York City. My point here was twofold. The reporter was extremely insensitive to those who lived through this nightmare closely, and to all Americans who value their country.

Abby, I agree with you totally. But I do love my newspapers. I can’t help it. I grew up in a newspaper family and learned about what journalism should be from my father. One thing though—since the rise of the internet, and everyone wanting to be informed right this second, newspaper reading has declined. Everything is now a big ratings game. The more sensationalism, the better, seems to be what the modern journalist lives by. If you doubt it, just listen to the 11:00 news on any channel. Unfortunately, modern reporters follow suit sometimes. I thought the article about the Muslim families was terrible and shouldn’t have been page one of the main news section. If it had to be published at all, it should have been in Metro, where there are more local news articles and “human interest” stories. Please don’t beat me for saying “human interest”—I just can’t think of a better term
I don’t want to argue with boatmotor (motor mouth?) any more either. From his posts, he sounds semi-literate and can only rant on about Bush. I said several times that I don’t like Bush either and am sorry I voted for him. I couldn’t stomach Gore or Kerry, however, and after Clinton, Bush seemed like a good idea at the time. I never heard that comment about the Democrats and the pants and the beer before. LMAO. I have even voted for a few of them in my lifetime, but I just can’t seem to swallow their ideas. I come from a family of Democrats, but I learned early on to think for myself.
As regards 9/11, my “daughter of the heart” (step-daughter) works for NYC and actually felt the vibration in her building when the first plane hit. Her husband would have been in the building on the 101st floor and dead now if his boss hadn’t called that morning to say the job they were supposed to do there was delayed for a few days. She saw the burning bodies jumping from the building. I was actually watching TV when it happened and saw it all. I have been haunted ever since and have to try hard not to despise every Muslim I see, but that’s nothing compared to what my NYC family went through. I’m so sorry you lived a part of that nightmare also.

JUST WAT I THOUGHT,NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT GOOD BUSH HAS DONE FOR THIS COUNTRY,EVERYONE BYPASSES THE QUESTION.
Abortion & Traditional Values

Reversed Clinton’s move to strike Reagan’s anti-abortion Mexico Policy.
By Executive Order (EO), reversed Clinton’s policy of not requiring parental consent for abortions under the Medical Privacy Act.
By EO, prohibited federal funds for international family planning groups that provide abortions and related services.
Upheld the ban on abortions at military hospitals.

Requires schools to have a zero-tolerance policy for classroom disruption (reintroducing discipline into classrooms).

Expanded the role of faith-based and community organizations in after-school programs.
Budget, Taxes & Economy
Signed two income tax cuts, one of which was the largest dollar-value tax cut in world history.
Supports permanent elimination of the death tax.
Turned around an inherited economy that was in recession, and deeply shocked as a result of the 9/11 attacks.
Is seeking legislation to amend the Constitution to give the president line-item veto authority.
In process of permanently eliminating IRS marriage penalty.
Increased small business incentives to expand and to hire new people.
Initiated discussion on privatizing Social Security and individual investment accounts.
Killed Clinton’s “ergonomic” rules that OSHA was about to implement; rules would have shut down every home business in America.
Passed tough new laws to hold corporate criminals to account as a result of corporate scandals.
Reduced taxes on dividends and capital gains.
Signed trade promotion authority.

Grant a complete tax exemption for prepaid or college tuition savings plans.
Reduced H1B visas from a high of 195,000 per year to 66,000 per year.
Character & Conduct as President
Changed the tone in the White House, restoring HONOR and DIGNITY to the presidency.
Has reintroduced the mention of God and faith into public discourse.
Handled himself with enormous courage, dignity, grace, determination, and leadership in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 hijackings and anthrax attacks. He almost single-handedly held this country together during those searing days:
Just three days after the attacks, in his address at the National Cathedral, the President reassured the nation when he said: “War has been waged against us by stealth and deceit and murder. This nation is peaceful, but fierce when stirred to anger. This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others. It will end in a way, and at an hour, of our choosing.”
On Friday, September 14, 2001, President Bush visited Ground Zero. Standing on a crushed and burned fire engine atop the smoldering pile at Ground Zero, he put his arm around a retired firefighter who had volunteered to help, and began speaking to the crowd. Rescue workers shouted that they could not hear him. Someone handed him a small American flag and bullhorn. The President spontaneously shouted: “I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.” The crowd roared with cheers and chants of “USA! USA! USA!” Then he raised that American flag and rallied a nation:
Education & Employment Training
Signed the No Child Left Behind Act, delivering the most dramatic education reforms in a generation (challenging the soft bigotry of low expectations). The very liberal California Teachers union is currently running radio ads against the accountability provisions of this Act.
Announced “Jobs for the 21st Century,” a comprehensive plan to better prepare workers for jobs in the new millennium by strengthening post-secondary education and job training, and by improving high school education.
Is working to provide vouchers to low-income students in persistently failing schools to help with costs of attending private schools. (Blocked in the Senate.)
Requires annual reading and math tests in grades three through eight.
Requires states to participate in the National Assessment of Education Progre

By the way - your question has been answered. You have another run on sentence, and wat is spelled correct as What. You know...I used to hang up on my father when he yelled and would tell him to call back when he could speak reasonably. Has anyone informed you that posting in all caps is rude?

That indeed was President Bush’s finest moment. Too bad he didn’t realize the significance of what he held in his grasp. Since then, almost every decision he’s made has not been unifying, but dividing. There has been a continual stream of miscalculations and outright lies, which supported a personal agenda to settle old scores in Iraq. This White House more that any in history has operated strictly based upon the political agenda of the misguided right. This Presidency is one of the most tragic failures in United States history. We had the entire world behind us on that day and in retrospect this Presidency failed to use that support effectively. He has alienated the US from most of the world and has driven deep political divisions within our population.
The performance of the administration is absolutely shameful.

And this was written by the misguided left. On what have you based your facts. Are you a historian? Have you polled the entire country on the conclusions you have drawn?
How come the whole world didn’t hear that a member left over from the Clinton Administration with open door access to the oval office checked into a hotel with a housewife...somone else’s wife on September 13, 2001. They were across from the Washington Monument in D.C. with no luggage. Needless to say there was a reason for that but the FBI did bust into the hotel room, questioning them. We didn’t hear about that democratic folly.
The fact that our children have been playing with toys covered in lead paint? Thank you Mr. Clinton. The fact that the Iraqui insurgence has so many weapons...Thank you Mr. Clinton.
1994 - a young woman, in her early 20s dies in a hotel room having an affair with a democratic senator. The death ruled “suicide” - but the room is tossed, and the woman under no treatment for depression, with no physical cause. When suicide happens, you know it.
Yes, President Bush does realize what he has, and what he is doing. Unfortunately, you have the media blaming Bush for every kid that tracks in mud on a freshly washed floor and everything else under the sun. There are not two sides of an issue presented anymore because there were a lot of disappointed people after the last election. After nearly 3 years completed, it’s time to put on your big girl panties and get over it. Degrading the people out there fighting for the right you enjoy to express yourself, to practice your religion and to enjoy your basic human freedoms do not have to be degraded. Negative Comments and mud slinging should not be flying around during a time of war.
I suppose if you weren’t doing anything wrong, you would not of course stand against having a phone conversation recorded. There are no dangerous terrorists in the United States (read the article). There are no weapons caches in Iraq. Extremist leadership in foriegn countr8ies have the right to rip babies off life support for financial gain, to rape women, to teach kids to kill, and to threaten the lives of those on foriegn soil. They have the right to desecrate the bodies of their American victims, beheading them and dragging bodies through the streets. That is the view of the Democratic Party, who when they can’t keep their own house clean resort to revealing information that should remain classified and hey - itf it’s not true - let’s make something up.

Perhaps you should begin something on the National Politics Thread as this is the CRIME Thread. But what’s the use, since everything is Clinton’s and/or Bush’s fault in the end.
Take it easy on your keyboard and just type “Democrats SUCK”. The same message gets relayed.
It seems that some people want to get off topic in a couple of ways. But then I guess that if there are those who blame Bush for hurricane Katrina, I shouldn’t be surprised. Also, at the risk of repeating myself, the function of a newspaper is to report news and human interest stories as they are, without opinion, except for the editorial pages. I also think all of the Muslims should be rounded up, but please stop beating up the newspaper for reporting on the parents’ “anguish”. I find the Tribune to be much more balanced in it’s reporting than the “rag” that is published across the water in St. Pete. Yes, it has gotten a little more “liberal” since Ms. Goudreau took over as editor, but it is still balnced. Just look at the range of editorial opinions that get ink, and you will see what I mean.
Both newspapers print articles which reflect their own opinions. I’ve subscribed with both newspapers through the years, and I find that BOTH are neither balanced or always accurate! However, I prefer the St Pete Times for their layout and travel section. I too do not work for either newspaper.
As far as the students at USF are concerned. Perhaps they should go the way of Al Arian. They can all live together and claim their “innocence”.

learn not to be a cold fish and start caring about the people in need.. it will make a better person out of you..you will feel better about your self.
ABEULAH shares: I was actually watching TV when it happened and saw it all. I have been haunted ever since and have to try hard not to despise every Muslim I see,
SH: Tens of millions of Americans were watching TV when it happened and saw it all too.
Those who are still haunted six years later and battling a simmering hatred towards “every Muslim they see” likely could benefit from some qualified mental health counseling.

and looks like you are able to understand WAT im saying,so you are understanding my post,if your wooried about the way I type, then get over it.. im thru trying to get an answer to my question,it can’t be done,he has done nothing from what I have seen.see you at the polls, have a nice day..
Enough said!
JUST WAT I THOUGHT,NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT GOOD BUSH HAS DONE FOR THIS COUNTRY,EVERYONE BYPASSES THE QUESTION.
By the way - your question has been answered. You have another run on sentence, and wat is spelled correct as What. You know...I used to hang up on my father when he yelled and would tell him to call back when he could speak reasonably. Has anyone informed you that posting in all caps is rude?
I FIND IT TOTALLY DISGUSTING THAT WE HAVE TO FEEL SORRY FOR THE ONES TRYING TO KILL US AND GIVE THEM FREE EVERYTHING. WHEN THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES THAT GO THROUGH THE PROPER CHANNELS AND THEY WORK HARD. IT TAKES THEM 3 YEARS TO BECOME LEGAL, AND ALL THE THE MEXICANS HAVE TO DO IS CROSS THE BORDER BREAK OUR LAWS, RAPE OUR CHILDREN AND MURDER OUR FAMILIES. AND THEY GET TO STAY.MY HUSBAND AND I ARE HARD WORKING AMERICAN BORN CITIZENS THAT PAY $300.00 A MONTH FOR HEALTH INS. FOR ONE CHILD. WHILE OUR MEXICAN NEIGHBORS. GO TO THE DR’S DAILY FOR FREE. COLLECT SSI AND PAID A PENNY INTO IT. I AM A CANCER SERVIVER AND I CAN’T GET SSI. THE PEOPLE WE VOTED ONTO OFFICE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT ARE LINING THEIR POCKETS AND LETTING OUR CHILDREN DIE. I AM ASHAMED TO SAY I LIVE IN AMERICA. MY HEART BREAKS TO FEEL THIS WAY.

I probably shouldn’t even bother to respond, but I want to clarify. Since it happened around 8:00 a.m. on a Tuesday morning, I would assume the “tens of Millions” of people you say were watching TV and saw it all were probably at work. I happened to be home sick that day and saw it as it actually happened. I worried about our daughter all day as the phones were down for several hours. I worried about our son-in-law, who was supposed to be working in the towers that morning. It was a terrible thing, and if it doesn’t seem surreal to you also whenever you are reminded about it, I have to wonder about YOU. BTW, I didn’t say that I had a “simmering hatred” toward Muslims, but I am now a little wary of, and have lost respect for, a group of people that I once had no negative feelings about. I am very much a “live and let live” type of person, who doesn’t believe in classifying people by race, nationality, sexual orientation, etc. It bothers me that I am left with negative feelings toward a whole group of people because of what happened.
