Secondly : I watched Nancy Grace on ..I think it was cnn or msnbc Last night(3-15-07).
They have found the body of yet another child… 6 yr old ... I think his first name is
/was christopher Barrios. He was found in a garbage bag on the side of the road
of a construction company. He too is a victim of child molestation and rape.
The perpertrator???? a 32 yr old convicted child molester who was set free on
probation by a judge in Georgia......
WILL THIS MADNESS NEVER END?????
OUR CHILDREN ARE NOT SAFE. And there are far too many Plea agreements taking place.
There should NEVER be probation for a sexual offender ....Of any kind.!!!!!!
I Think we all need to be writting letters to our congressmen/women… We need to let these
people know that this is totally UNACCEPTABLE. and that we as americans will not stand for these
kind of plea agreements. If enough of us take this action and let our GOVERNMENT know
that this can NO longer be tolerated......maybe and I do mean MAYBE we can see to it that
people can not get away with this.
Thirdly: something to think about.
We have Licenses to get married. Licenses to hunt animals. Licenses to fish......Licenses
to drive a vehicle.........and the list goes on........
But do people need licenses to have children.? NO......Are there any laws stating the
some people should not have the right to have children..........NO

I take my hat off to Mark Lundsford. I only hope and pray that he will feel some vindication.

Yes criminals have far too many rights in our society. We have too many lawyers who have unfortunately yet to come up with all of the continuing line of excuses one would commit a crime. We are suppose to feel sad for the criminal and the victim is many times a side note.
There are at this point too many fighting for rehab over penalty once again not feeling the pain of the victim as well as the family.
There is no penalty severe enough for an animal such as Couey. Electric, gas, injection are much too kind. Yet we continue to hear of how “inhumane” the death penalty is. To anyone who disagrees to it, try for one moment to put yourself into the shoes of any parent who has lost their child through an act such as this. I do not see how they would not wish a fitting end to the animals life.
Life in prison (especially these days) is not the option. They live and someone has paid the ultimate price through an absolutely unthinkable manner?
In a case where it is open and shut with no doubt, there should be only one option and the death penalty is the only one I can think of.
I’m sure there are many who will disagree and that is each person’s right.
I continue to think back to one incident where Mark David Chapman took the life of John Lennon. Standing with the gun and admitting what he did. He still lives and we pay for his existence. One of thousands who we support every day. There is no reason.

Is there such a thing as REHAB… Most criminals that get out of jail usually return to the life
of crime they left, before they were caught.
Life is most easy in a penitentary. They get cabel TV, 3 squares a day. They get access to LAW
Libraries and the gratuities go on. I dont believe that there is rehabilitation for people such as
john couey ( I cant bring myself to call him Mr.). I cant say totally that I believe in
vigilantism. However, Does anyone remember the group Who started riding the New York
Subways.....The something Angles....... Crime did go down. They were a deterrent. The
criminals thought twice before messing with them.

If I’m not mistaking all US Citizens have the same rights when they are born. However, some of them choose to give up those rights (all of them) when they commit a henious crime as this one. This man does not deserve a trial at all! When he confessed he should have been scheduled to receive his last supper the next night! If we would stop picking these people up, and brushing them off, and start showing them the same disrespect that they show “our” society, I bet that the crime rate would sprial downward. How is an eye for an eye inhumane? If I was little Jess’s mom or dad, I would get closure (and great pleasure) from lethatly injecting him myself. Retarded or mentally challenged - my a**! If he’s that bad off he doesn’t need to be a part of society anyway, a person of that mentality could never be rehabilitated. Save the prison room for somebody that can be rehabilitated.

As for john couey.....I think that lethal injection is not punishment enough. Maybe we should have
let him into the “general population” and let them deal with him. At least he would get some
of his own.

He’ll suffer a lot more for his sin this way.

The saga of John Evander Couey continues this week back where it began, in Citrus County. Couey was tried in Miami after an impartial jury could not be found in Citrus County, where Jessie was killed.
On Tuesday, prosecutors and Couey’s lawyers will appear in an Inverness courtroom. Couey’s team is expected to present mental health experts who will tell Circuit Judge Ric Howard that Couey is mentally retarded.
The argument isn’t likely to go too far.
Couey’s defense lawyers have tried once to convince Howard that Couey was too retarded to know what he was saying when he spoke to detention deputies about his crime. They argued that the detention deputies, therefore, should not be able to testify against Couey.
After that argument, Howard ruled that Couey seemed competent as he sat in a jail cell, able to understand the math needed to complete Sudoku puzzles and able to study for his high school equivalency exam.

I disagree. I think that this man should be punished, and putting him to death is what that would be. It is not murder, what he did to Jessica is murder. If he was confined in a cell, as you say, he would be safer then anything else, protected. If he does not get the death sentence, I predict that he probably won’t last long in the general population. Other inmates don’t care for people who harm children, let alone who kill them.
Give him only a Bible? It’s too late for that, the damages he has caused are past tense and he needs to be punished.

People are taught (by lawyers, mainly, in situations like this) to manipulate those tests. His flucuates and wouldn’t you know it, only after this was brought up (that he may be retarded) that is the only test that says he is. I say, take the majority, which says HE ISN’T RETARDED, and use those to decide that he does deserve the death penaty.
In 1978, during Couey’s first stint in prison, his IQ was measured at 71. Anyone with an IQ below 70 is considered retarded.
Since that first test, Couey’s IQ has been measured at 85 and 78. Weeks before his murder trial began, a doctor recorded Couey’s IQ at 64.
The retardation argument will not be the defense team’s only attempt to save Couey’s life. Just as his attorneys tried unsuccessfully to persuade a jury to spare Couey, they most likely will use many of the same arguments to persuade Howard to ignore the jury’s recommendation and sentence Couey to life in prison.
My prayers go out to you Mark, and your family, as finally you get your VOICE. I understand all of the reasoning why you did not until now, SO YOU GIVE IT TO HIM. You will be in my thoughts tomorrow.
I am not expert, by all means on the Bible, but doesn’t it say “An EYE FOR AND EYE, TOOTH FOR A TOOTH”. I am understand that everyone has their view points on the Death Penalty, WE as a Nation, will never agree on that subject, BUT Be Realistic, John Couey, Tourtured, Terrorized, and LETS NOT FORGET “BURIED HER ALIVE”. What suitable punishment would be best for a cold hearted monster like that.

First of all my deepest sympathies to the Lunsford family for all of the pain and suffering they have been forced to endure as a result of John Couey, the sick twisted monster who planned a successful kidnapping of their little Jessica, raped her, and then buried her alive in a plastic garbage back behind his house. No family should ever have to endure that kind of personal pain without having final vengeance in the form of justice. Jessica’s father Mark has made his feelings and those of his family quite clear, John Couey should be put to death.
A Circuit judge must make the final decision on what ultimate fate awaits Mr. Couey. A jury of his peers took very little time in finding him guilty and recommending he be executed. Sounds like the jury got it right. However we all know our criminal justice system is geared to protect monsters like John Couey. The legal defense argument for saving his life is his IQ level is so low he is retarded.
I have a real issue with this type of legal strategy to save his sorry ass from a deserved fate on death roll. No retarded person is going to plan a kidnapping, carry it out successfully, and then do the unspeakable things this monster did to Jessica Lunsford. I think of retarded citizens, my mind immediately focuses upon our true angels, who are retarded and are the most beautiful of all humans. We have all seen them, some families are blessed with having one to love, because their love has no boundaries, it is pure. I think of Forrest Gump if we want to use the term mentally slow but even he still understood love and compassion.
John Couey is no Forrest Gump, he is no Angel. He is a diabolical monster and a coward for not having the courage to face the fate he made for himself the day he decided to take Jessica’s young life. I hope this judge gets it right and puts Couey’s sorry ass on death row and someday Jessica’s dad can finally have his justice and little Jessica may rest in peace.
