i agree with coffester and most of the previous posts. up until pitman’s injury, we should have stayed pat. now with pitman’s injury, we desperately need rb help.
what would i be willing to give up? 3rd rnd pick or lower, and sims/plummer/gradkowski. our draft picks this year showed me we can get good value from the first day. there are a couple of rbs that we could have a shot at later in the first (slaton immediately comes to mind). so we definately need our rnd 1 and 2 picks. i’d like to hold onto the 3rd rnd but if the right deal comes along we should be willing to give it up.
how should we be looking at? i agree with holmes, especially with the lack of starting qb in kansas city. we should be willing to give up a 4th for moore. fason should get a look b/c he wouldn’t cost as much. i’m not big on trading for williams b/c IF he gets reinstated we could pick him up off waivers for nada. what about those taylor/mckinnie? how about a 3 or 4 and sims/qb? hadn’t thought much about portis, but would he be worth a 3rd and sims/qb? i say yes! if we’re gonna give something up, why not make sure we get proven talent in return?!
finally, i want to say the Bucs will make the playoffs, even if we don’t make a major rb addition! with Delhomme’s injury and the non-start by the Saints, our only competition is the Falcons, who also have major questions at qb! my point is that if we make a trade, we could instantly become major competitor in the NFC playoffs. Other then the Cowboys, there isn’t a close to dominant team. we need to make a move b/c the playoffs will be WIDE OPEN until the conference championship. if ever there was a time for Gruden/Allen to make a move, it is NOW!
