According to “The Role of Schools in Preventing Childhood Obesity” by the National Association of State Boards of Education 2/3 of students who live one mile or less do not walk to school.

Should parents encourage their children to walk more? Or does this have more to do with safety? What are some other options parents can implement so children continue to get the much needed excercise that wards off obesity?

The reason so many kids are getting chauffered 1/2 mile to 1 mile to school by Mommy in the mini-van is that Mommy is an hysterical wet blanket who watches way too much Lifetime Movie network.
