What Happens To USF Now?

Rutgers used its Thursday night ESPN magic to whack the University of South Florida’s national championship hopes.

Bolstered by a Rutgers Stadium-record crowd of 44,267, Rutgers used a bevy of special teams trick plays and the power running of Ray Rice to hand the No. 2-ranked Bulls a 30-27 loss.

USF (6-1, 1-1 Big East) can say goodbye to its BCS National Championship Game chances, but the Bulls remain alive for the Big East title — but need help.

What are your thoughts? Will USF rebound, win the rest of their games and capture the Big East championship? Or will they lose a couple more times this season?

Thank you USF for playing the BCS game, but it’s time now for you to go back to being irrelevant and letting real college football programs, one with academically qualified players, tradition, on-campus stadiums, and coaches who play by the rules, to battle for the national championship. You can play the rest of your season in anonymity and worry about the Car Care Bowl or whatever second-tier game you’ll be playing in.

Well, for starters USF could start making their players take classes.  Maybe the reason they lost to RU is because they’re dumb as dirt… it was the trick plays (i.e. the ones that require intelligence to defend) that did them in.

Ken & youraJOKE, I want to thank you for your replys. I was looking for a reason to smile (laugh) this morning and you gave that to me with your consistent remarks that clearly indicate your ignorance in college football programs, academically qualified players, tradition and coaches. Please keep posting, we all need to laugh (at both of you).

As far as the game last night, kudos to Rutgers as a team, the skill of Ray Rice and the coaches 4th down ventures. This is only going to make the Bulls stronger. They have a lot to be proud of and as everyone will see a lot more to accomplish in the future.

Well, rather than all of these cheeky come backs why doesn’t USF just produce the evidence that their players are actually academicaly legit… rather than responding like children in a play ground?  If they are legit, then I applaud their success.  If they have something to hide, which seems more and more likely the longer they delay producing evidence of their players legitimacy, then they need to come clean like men and make it right.  It’s as simple as that.  But sadly, we live in a day when people will try to get away lying on their resumes… even head football coaches.

You know....I love some “haters”.  As a former Senator for the College of Education at USF—and one of the Senators who voted to establish a football program (which we called Touchdown 2000)...I have to say .. I LOVE MY BULLS...AND I WILL SUPPORT THEM UNTIL THE DAY I DIE!

It is funny to realize that it took more than 100 years for Rutgers to get into the Top 10—something USF did in just over 10 years!

Why is it that there is so much negativity for USF?  Hmmm...I’m glad we have given people something to rally the wagons about.

I graduated from one of the Top 10 Colleges of Education in the Country...from the largest land-owning University in the State of Florida....from one of only three Level 1 Research Universities in the State (which includes UF and FSU), from a University that takes care of kids who have been burned, people who lose their vision—and people who need a helping hand.

I AM A BULL!  I AM PROUD!  I AM USF!

GO BULLS!

The Bulls loss to Rutgers is not the end of the season by any means.

Sure the Rutgers coaches out coached the Bulls staff but that doesn’t take away from the close quality of the Bulls players.

After the Bulls coaches finish whipping themselves for letting the Bulls players down with poor adjustments and carelessness, I have no doubts that the Bulls as a team will comeback with a renewed commitment and fervor.

There are five more games to go and the Big East season is just starting for the Bulls.  Plenty of time for other teams to climb and fall.  The bulls in No 2 was no accident.  You’ll see.

Go Bulls

Ken and Joke.  Have a take with some idea.  Go back to doing what you do when you gaze at Tebows centerfold hanging on your ceilings.  Gators have always been momma boys or blatant gays (Tebow).  Win a game sometime in the future you losers.

Might want to check you facts, USF is #48 in US News and World Report.  A bit of a pet peeve of mine when people randomly throw out statistics that usually aren’t true.  Also why is USF being the “largest land grant university in the State of Florida” important?  You guys need to find an identity and something to be proud of--in large part the football team has done that for you this year--don’t taint that with meaningless facts

Hey Joke and Ken - What school of righteousness do you guys support.  Notice I did not say attend, because we all know you guys are the 10th grade drop outs that have attached themselves to schools with “pretty logos.” Or do you guys wait until the pre season rankings come out them decide who to support and adjust with each weekly poll?

Irrelevant??  How can you say they are irrelevant when you have spent the last two days of your pathetic life doing two things, collecting our tax dollars with your welfare check and writing to this message board?  If the Bulls are irrelevant, what are you?

The Bulls didn’t get it done last night, big deal.  They will still finish better than most schools in the country and likely will win their first Big East title and play in a BCS bowl game.  Next year when those pre season rankings come out I am sure both of you will be buying a green Bulls shirt.

Now get back to work, those tomatoes aren’t going to pick themselves!!

I think Rutgers and the New Jersey mafia cheated and calls that were not correct agains the Bulls were wrongly supported. Still 27/30 is not a horrible score (even though it should have been the other way around).  GO BULLS!

Mikey.....PLEASE.  USF’s undergraduate program is not even nationally ranked by US News & World Report.  It is lumped into the “Third Tier “ category.

Don’t fall back on the “we got some bad calls” argument.  USF clearly encroached on the “halo” rule during the first punt recovery and it was never called.  Back calls on both sides for the benefit of both teams, Rutgers just wanted it more.

FAN, I agree with you on the calls, they go both ways with some of them more obvious than others. It is like that in most games, college or pro.

I disagree with you in that Rutgers wanted it more. It was a hard fought game that ended with the best team winning by three points. I look forward to the next time these two teams meet; it should be another great game.

In my opinion USF was the better team and I am not a Bulls fan.  The errors (too many penalties), coaching decisions (run Grothe more in Q4) and missed opportunities made the difference.  Taking nothing away from USF’s great defense, Rutgers QB was atrocious.  RU’s defense was just average--the only way Rutgers could stop USF was to blitz on every down and the USF coaches never seemed to adjust for that.  I saw one maybe two quick slants but that’s it.  I think RB, OL, coaching, and Special teams goes to Rutgers everything else goes to USF.  And I think Ray Rice finally might be the real deal.
