Most of you must not have seen the pregame show. Rece Davis and the other two guys were saying that with the stats and no name, every football fan in America would think that the number two team deserved to be there. The only reason USF is getting no respect is because they aren’t one of the big name schools that is always in the polls. Face it - people are afraid of change and USF is bringing a big change. Although I was unhappy to see them lose, it isn’t necessary a bad thing. Now they can get the target off their back and go win the Big East championship. Levitt has always been big on NOT buying into the poll hype. Now they can get back on track and prove that the Bulls do deserve to be a top rated team.
Go Bulls !!!!

I have to disagree, while I think USF is a Top 20 possibly Top 15 team I don’t think they belong in the Top 10 (but neither do half the other schools currently in the Top 10). As has been said several times in the past few weeks mid-season polls are for fan conjecture and talk shows..they don’t mean anything. That being said the biggest drawback USF has is the Big East--it just isn’t a very strong conference. And while I know you will probably throw the Auburn card, (to which I will throw the UK Louisville card) the fact of the matter is the best teams in the Big East have been beaten by vastly less opponents. Maryland? Virginia? Utah? One of your premier teams (louisville) lost to the cellar dweller (Syracuse) These are the teams the beat all the Big East teams that started in the Top 15.
The conference itself is not strong enough. No sportswriter in the country would put one loss USF ahead of one loss LSU, South Carolina, OSU, or USC because these schools play the best competition week in week out. If you play in the Big East there is no margin of error (and if you listened to the post game you would have heard that too). It is still something to be proud of to win your conference and go to a BCS bowl which is clearly still in the picture--concentrate on that instead of trying to prove USF is deserving of #2, because right now clearly they are not.

I graduated from one of the Top 10 Colleges of Education in the Country...from the largest land-owning University in the State of Florida....from one of only three Level 1 Research Universities in the State (which includes UF and FSU), from a University that takes care of kids who have been burned, people who lose their vision—and people who need a helping hand.
GO BULLS!
Might want to check you facts, USF is #48 in US News and World Report. A bit of a pet peeve of mine when people randomly throw out statistics that usually aren’t true.
http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/usnews/edu/grad/rankings/edu/brief/edurank_brief.php
You should pay closer attention to what you are reading - Mikey did not say he was from one of the top 10 universities, he said “top 10 colleges of Education” the US News and World Report ranks universities not the colleges that make up those universities. By the way - he is right USF is rated #7 in the country for the college of education.

Every university is good at something and quite frankly I don’t think you want to get in an academics discussion as USF is neither exemplary nor mediocre--there is too much downside on an argument of that type for USF.
Besides the point I was busting someone throwing out a random statistic if he is right then great, congratulations USF has a great education program.

I’m sooo glad I found TBO to get my laughs for the day.
Yes, we lost and prob deserved too. What is amazing to me is we lost in key areas but still had SEVERAL chances to win or tie in the 4th q. That is a sign of a good team and I’m as proud as I ever was in these guys. All we should ever had to think about was the Big East and let the chips fall from there. That goal is still very much alive and so would a nice bowl to go along with our 11 year old program. Let the rest of these jerks talk crap and I’m actually starting to enjoy them.
Joke I hope you’re not going to leave our group when LSU chokes....and you know they will. It says alot about you when you desire Tampa to be wipped off the map and not one person here has slammed back with a Katrina zinger.....I thought about it, but won’t go there....enough said.
Have a good weekend all

That was the first USF game I’ve seen this season. I’m neither a Bulls nor a Rutgers fan, just was interested to see what all the fuss was about with USF. It didn’t take long to realize that USF was nowhere close to being the real #2 team in the country. Yes, there’s some talent there, no question, especially at QB and WR, but there isn’t talent across the board, there were too many penalties, too much inconsistency, an OL that couldn’t protect the QB, a DL that couldn’t stop Rice even in clear running situations, too blown assignments, fooled by trick plays, I could go on and on. And let’s face it. While Rutgers is a respectable team, they were unranked for a reason - they aren’t all that good. A really good program - LSU, Oklahoma, OSU, or even Florida which is ranked way below USF - would blow Rutgers off the field. So congratulations to USF for what still can be a great season, but please don’t claim that you are or ever were the #2 team in the country.

I, for one, never claimed them to be worthy of #2....if the teams that were ahead of them a few weeks ago would have taken care of business then they would be around 10-15. USF was outcoached plain and simple.

All I have to say is that USF played a good game. It was one heck of a game to watch. I am a USF fan and I will support them to the end. They could have capitalized on some key plays, but they did not, that is the way things go. Now they need to regroup and focus on next week. GO BULLS!!!

Just at i thought, hold the number 2 ranking till you go on the road against a struggling team, and lose it, that proves you didnt deserve to be number 2, not put them back our of the top 10 where they belong. Go Bulls,

Tough lose, RU played inspired ball and Rice is USF’s Kryptonite! Lot of things went RU’s way, but USF still had it’s chances and squandered them. This should be a great learning experience, now we find out what kind of players they are, do they rebound or carry this lose as baggage and drop another game. As for all the naysayers, even if USF won, they would keep saying we’ll lose the next one. Win out and things will take care of itself.

I would have to say it was an exciting game that sadly was not in our favor. I was getting upset with everyone talking up so much especially after USF scored so high over UCF. Rutgers was the one team I did not want to lose against. I also cannot stand their fans. I have a lot more respect for West Virginia fans and hope WV will defeat Rutgers. Which reminds me...we have too many teams in the Big East beating each other. Rutgers beat us, we beat WV and WV might beat Rutgers and so on...it always keeps the teams behind in the rankings.
Anyways, you should check out all the pictures from the USF vs Rutgers watch parties. Pictures from the Sun Dome, University Area Hangout, & Hawk’s Neighborhood Grill. They are all posted on 813area.com!!!

Moneymike-
I know USF fans are probably new to this whole “college football” thing but you might want to check the acrynoyms on the footballs that USF plays with--they read NCAA not XFL. You cannot interfere with a punt returner when he calls for a fair catch--you have to give him space to catch the ball. When is the last time you saw someone from the punt team run down and level a guy who called a fair catch.

actually, we r 11 years into it, so we rnt that new @ playing, and its a judgement call whether he gave him an opportunity 2 catch it.. but again, there is no 2 yard halo rule in college anymore… and dont get started on the fair catch.. he prolly had his head down cuz that wasnt a great call 4 a fair catch but he did make it.. but when was the last time u saw some1 call 4 a fair catch and then run it back 4 a TD w/o it called back (UConn) yall jus hatin on USF cuz they winnin, and u hate 2 c changes in football, which is sad
