What Happens To USF Now?

The AP is out as of 1:00 Sunday and our USF Bulls fell out of the top ten at 11th position.  It was the breakdown of the offensive line in pass protection, combined with the defense failing to keep Ray Rice’s yardage down as well as the obvious loss of the game.  The stats can be heartless, but they don’t lie and aren’t impressed with a schools reputation.

Overall this might be good for the Bulls to crack down on an unproductive attitude which ultimately seems to kill most teams that climb that high.  With this reality check I hope they get rejuvenated and recommitted to simply winning, winning, winning; instead of poll-peeking and feeling impressed with themselves.

I am looking forward to the next game as the most important of the season to not only break UConn’s stats but also show that the Bulls belong in the ratings.

Go Bulls

I am a long time Bulls supporter, but have to agree that they were outplayed on Thursday night.  But, I have a comment to all of the people spouting off about “tradition” and “school legacies” etc.....Correct me if I’m wrong, but all of the current sports legacy schools were new programs at one point....no one came on the college football scene with an established tradition.  They all had to build one, as USF is trying to do and they all had that breakthrough season where they established themselves.  Every program had to build creditibility...some took longer than others.  Saying they don’t deserve to be ranked or taken seriously just because of the age of the program (Jimmy J) is obsurd.  This season has been one of upsets and upstarts, all the way around.  Get over yourselves.

I have ALWAYS been a proud USF Alumni....USF accounting students with advanced degrees consistently score high on the CPA exam and have the highest passing rate on the exam.  You can add the School of Accountancy to the School of Education as being recognized as one of the best in the country.  Academics come first....for everyone.

GO BULLS!  Win or lose, your Alumni support you and are proud.

actually, we r 11 years into it, so we rnt that new @ playing, and its a judgement call whether he gave him an opportunity 2 catch it.. but again, there is no 2 yard halo rule in college anymore… and dont get started on the fair catch.. he prolly had his head down cuz that wasnt a great call 4 a fair catch but he did make it.. but when was the last time u saw some1 call 4 a fair catch and then run it back 4 a TD w/o it called back (UConn) yall jus hatin on USF cuz they winnin, and u hate 2 c changes in football, which is sad

I really hope you are not the poster boy for a USF education.

WHO CARES!!!  Like I said before I wouldn’t get into an argument of academics with half the universities in your state much less the southeast.  We are talking about football ( where the bulls have a legit argument) If you want to talk academics go somewhere else to embarrass yourself.
USF has average to above average academics and a very good football team--stick to what you do best and stop making up meaningless facts (i.e. USF has highest passing rate on CPA--they don’t release those figures genius)

TPAFBALLFAN: Who pissed in your corn flakes this morning, buddy?  Geez.  First, I DID talk about football, second all you seem to want to do is rip on Florida Universities....what’s the matter, genius.....all the schools in “my state” turn you down?

USFALUM I hope you are not as unintelligent as you sound.  My point was that there are a handful of other universities in Florida that are academically superior to USF not to mention the ones in the Southeast so making any arguments on the merits of academics is a waste of time.  Where I attended college is not really an issue, but it was in the state of Florida. No one pissed in my corn flakes captain sensitivity…

Ballfan.  You ARE a complete idiot.  Can some one tell BF, SEC requirements compared to the ACC and Big East, are remedial at best.  2,3, 4 AND 5 stars football recruits aren’t typically Einsteins, genius.

To equate Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama and LSU with the ACC and Big East is rather reaching, don’t you think?  You probably went to one of those racist private schools in the south to get your education.  Another out of touch SEC poser.  Take Vandy out and your a bunch of commuter schools.  A GED gets you into UF.

Nick-

You ought to try, for once, preparing a thoughtful response not peppered with “you are gay” “you love Tebow” or “you are an idiot”. For one UF is far and away a better academic institution than USF and UF is my alma mater.

To the point; Is USF in the AAU? No. According to US News and World Report, UF is the #47 university in the country--by comparison USF is unranked and in the “third tier”.  I challenge you to find one publication that says USF is academically stronger.

My original point is USF is not particularly strong in academics so why brag about the 3 or 4 nationally ranked programs at the school. I don’t go chasing down Stanford grads to compare UF’s engineering credentials.  Unless you have some basis for the argument (rigid admissions, membership in research consortia, national rankings) then don’t make the argument.

Clearly you thoughtless responses attest (http://thesaurus.reference.com/browse/attest {for your reference} ) to the exemplary education you received at USF ( I am being facetious-- again look it up)

PS: Some random thoughts to your ridiculous assertions:

You probably went to one of those racist private schools in the south to get your education.

Where do you get the racist comment? Is someone saying USF is not up to par with other Florida and Southeastern schools racist?  In that case you are probably not too bright

Also, when did you adopt the ACC into this conversation??? I said schools in the Southeast not southeastern conference. I might invest in some reading comprehension materials if I were you.  Scratch that just go back to college-- obviously you could use a refresher…

You are welcome to respond to any of this but it is clear you are tremendously outmatched.

TPA.  Dude, there is no halo rule.  Have a take based on the topic.  UF IS home of the gays.  Now that is a blog in and of itself.  And Tebow is the poster child!!!!!!!!

I apologize for having the incorrect semantics, but there absolutely is a rule that the punt team cannot interfere with a fair catch.  Section 4 Article 1 (a)-(c) of the NCAA Football Rulebook (ask someone to look it up for you)

Yes it is no longer called the Halo rule but it nonetheless is very much a rule. Once again diligence trumps any idiot sitting behind a computer stamping out “SEC is full of gays”...talk about a lame take.

I guess that is what you have to resort to when you know I am right…

no, its actually a judgement call by the officials to whether the kicking team gave the returner an opportunity to catch the football, and ya, thats the same as not interfering, but there is no certain yardage that u have to give the return man, its all judgement, and that was ur judgement, and that was the officials judgement, he wins that 1, because his ruling is the 1 that counts, not urs

First we were talking about questionable calls.  I thought it was questionable, I didn’t say certain.  A USF fan was complaining about the punt return call (which was way more obviously than the fair catch interference) and all I said was that call was also questionable.  Point being that both teams had tough calls, don’t blame your loss on the officials

Which gets to my next point, in case you didn’t see the UConn game (or last year’s OU game) the officials judgement calls are not always right.

Final point: The guy has nothing intelligent to say which alludes to one of two things:  He is inherently not intelligent (quite possible given his writing style and grammar) or he has no argument.

Frankly this is a waste of time, I feel like a douche for actually responding to this idiot posts..

As Nicky “the Rome mark” (Talk about gay crushes) would say....I am out.

Well, the BCS standings on Monday have the USF Bulls at 18.

Actually this is not all that bad in my mind.  Sure, they were propelled up to the top early in the season based purely on statistics and the Cinderella effect.  They were never there before and I can’t help but think they didn’t know how to deal with it and mishandled the experience.

But this means that they will get hold of themselves better the next time they are ranked highly and most likely make an ever better showing of themselves.

USF has a great coach in Leavitt and he has a good coaching staff working for him.  The better ratings will lead to better and better recruiting both with players and coaches, which will simply show up in future play.

I don’t consider a 10-2 season anything to be ashamed of.

Go Bulls !!!
