Drought and Brown Lawns

Anyone losing their lawn due to the drought and Hurricanes of ‘04 and ‘05?

I lost a good 25% of my lawn due to the infiltration of drought-loving weeds spread by the Hurricanes in 04 and 05. Strange looking weeds that flourish in dry conditions have taken over much of Highlands County.

When will we see an end to the drought? Until we have water again, we need to stop new development except for fill-in and buildout of existing subdivisions. I cringe at every turn we here about new population explosions coming to Highlands County.

People complaining about low lake levels and water shortages in Lake Istokpoga should be thrilled by the consideration of new subdivisions in central Highlands County.

OK, another newspaper story about drought, low lake levels, and fishermen who cannot use their boats. Where is the citizen outrage over the proposed new developments in Highlands County?

All this chit chat about low lake levels accomplishes nothing, until we get leaders who stand up against new developments.  Urban sprawl is another ugly name for new subdivisions. Just because we plan for growth does NOT mean that we need new subdivisions and new cities here in Highlands County until the water shortages for drinking and agriculture are resolved.

I wouldn’t worry to much about the 4600 homes. Look at Leisure Lakes and some of the other planned developments from years ago. There are roads that have been overgrown and disappear into the foliage. After the land owners make their money subdividing and selling the lots, most of the lots will not see houses for 20 years, if ever. The original subdividers will make the money. The buyers of the lots will have succumbed to the old pitch, “I’ve got some cheap land available in sunny Florida.”
As for the water shortage, it is a function of climate change and population growth and will continue regardless of what political decisions are made to address the issue.

You make good points. I lived in south Florida for 20 years, and I saw numerous abandoned subdivisions during the 1980s.

One would like to think that all tese so-called visions, and work by planners would stop the unnecessary plat efforts and unnecessary subdivisions to appease the lanowners. Fact remains, preferences change, people may not want to live along the U.S. 27 backbone, yet the effort to define Urban Service Boundaries, and Urban Service Areas is a slap in the face to landowners off the beaten path, who may want to sell out 30 years from now.

Mandated greenbelts, mandated sculptured cities, and failure to consider the will of the people will prove to be nothing better than the hodge podge developments of the past. According to Commissioner Stewart, there are some 64,000 lots on the atlas already, yet we need to accomodate urban sprawl.

What do you think about the link between drought conditions and the chem-trail spraying that has been going on extensively?

I see no connection between chem-trail spraying and the drought. The southeast U. S. has major drought areas unrelated to spraying. Over population is causing much of the problems because too many people are wasting water, in Florida too many commando HOA nazis are demading that everyone have a green lawn.

Conservation and water restrictions will ease the pain.

I can’t agree with you about no link between chem-trails and the drought. One use of chem-trail spraying is for weather control. Another thing we should be alarmed about is the noxious poisons contained in the chem trails. You can tell that it is happening here. You can see the trails in the sky, and they don’t look like normal contrails, nor do they dissipate the same way.

I wasn’t disagreeing with you. I have no direct knowledge about spraying. Maybe you could post a link or web site that has data on the subject.

This is the first I’ve heard about Chem-trail spraying.  What makes you think the trails contain noxious poisons?  I goggled “chem trails” and found mostly conspiracy theory addicts.

There didn’t seem to be any creditable information about what the purpose of, or contents of, or whom is doing the spraying.

The veteran pilot reports that the trails are not the normal contrails left by high flying aircraft, is disturbing.

I noticed yesterday all the smoky-smelling haze over Sebring, looking like the “clouds” formed by the chem-trail spraying. Today, I have a sore throat. Some people say that this is being done as a means of “population control”, to eliminate the elderly, who they call the “worthless eaters”, among others. If so, we are sitting ducks here since we have the third highest population per capita of elderly in the US.

Of course the government is going to deny their existence!

I too woke up yesterday with a sore throat. Maybe they are trying to reduce the elderly population with spraying.

Well, there’s a creative solution to the looming social security crisis. Just kidding of course, as I’ll be there soon.

voice,

There is some question about the creditability of your source material.  It would take a large and well funded organization to gain access to KC-135 /DC-10 tanker type aircraft.

Hey it might be the evil leaders of the WTO trying to thin out the opposition to the “One World Government.”

Did you notice how the outside air smelled yesterday, as well? Smelled like burning sulfur or some kind of chemical fire.

Stable-

You can laugh at the CREDIBILITY and stick your head in the sand and pretend that there is nothing wrong if you want to.
There is more evidence than just these sites.

GOOGLE (not goggle) the word “Orgone” and the name “Dr. Wilhelm Reich”
