I like the Jovan Haye to Nose Tackle idea giles88. I think if we can get a 3-Tech that can get more of a rush up the liddle then I think we can afford to have a little more inexperience at the CB position when the old guys step down and still be alright. Which is why I’ve posted before that if Sedrick Ellis, the D-tackle from USC falls to around the 10th pick I think we should move up and take him. Maybe give the Bengals Jovan Haye and Greg White in the deal and move up to that 9th pick to get him. I know it’s going to be costly but I think this guy is worth it. Then to replace Greg White we sign Jared Allen.

I know it’s kind of crazy but thats what these boards are for aren’t they?

Acura. You may be correct, but only time will tell. Gruden if he liked Sapp as a great football defensive lineman, will give it some thought if he is smart. I know football is a big business with mega bucks involved, but I don’t honestly believe bringing Sapp back to wear peuter, will effect the price cap. They spend more for private booths then it would cost to bring Sapp home for a final season.  I still and will continue to believe it will be in the best interest of the Bucs. They need reenforcement in the line, and Sapp is the man. He has that much left in his tank, and will make his presence known right up front.

Senior Member. Again, there is no talk about Sapp in the mill but that doesn’t mean he is out of the picture completely. Sapp can disrupt the opponent side of the fence with just his presence. He is big, strong and intimidating, he can break up plays, he can cause fumbles, and he can sack quarterbacks. His days are not over, and he is being forced into retirement. He doesn’t want to go into retirement, and I’ll bet my Bucs shirt that he would jump at the opportunity to play, and give an outstanding performance. His heart is in the Bucs, and his performance playing for a team that he loved will show the end results. I honestly thing it was a bad move to let him and Lynch go in the first place. For once I hope they think with their heads and not with their pocket books. He is worth the gamble, that’s the end of my discussion on Sapp. If he isn’t picked up they will wish they had if someone else like Dungy, takes a look at Sapp again, since he is available, and pick him up. He’ll play hard for Dungy this I feel very confident about. The heads of the Team have the final say, and I hope they make the right decision. Sapp belongs in Tampa, that’s where is heart is, and that is where he will prove to all the skeptics that playing for the Bucs, he will give his greatest and final years something for them to talk about.. My whole dream is for the Bucs to have a successful season next year, and at a minimum come home with the Division Championship. With Kiffen remaining from the looks of things, and the talk about extending his contract with a substantial increase has given me and many other fans a great outlook on next year. If I thought discussing Sapp"s possiblity of coming back to the Bucs would doany good or have influence on his returning I would not let up until the draft and all the picks and changes were made. No matter what I say or reccommend the decision rest with the powers to be.
My final say on the matter is I wish Sapp all the luck in the world, and I hope that NBC, CBS, or ABC, or other affiliate network picks him to annouce or narrate for a sports spot on TV. I love the guy he gave his best effort to the Bucs, and deserves to somehow stay in the limelight. “Good Luck Sapp”

TOPIC- WARREN SAPP RETIRING FROM THE NFL
AS OF JANUARY 2008

NO ONE CAN DENY THE FACT THAT THE PERFORMANCES OF WARREN SAPP AS A NFL DEFENSIVE PLAYER, WERE VALUABLE TO THE VICTORIES THE BUCS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACHIEVE HISTORICALLY. HE DEFINITELY WILL BE REMEMBERED AND RANKED ALONG WITH OTHER NOTABLE BUCS PLAYERS PAST AND PRESENT. HIS CONTRIBUTIONS AS A BUC, WERE KEYS TO THE BUCS’s SUPER BOWEL VICTORY.

THE MAJOR DOWNFALL, WARREN SAPP HAS, IS THE FACT THAT HE HAS A RECORDED HISTORY OF DRUG ABUSE ENCOUNTERS BOTH IN COLLEGE AND IN THE NFL. LET’S NOT FORGET, THE BUCS WERE UNCERTAIN ABOUT TAKING A CHANCE ON DRAFTING SAPP, BECAUSE OF THE KNOWN RUMORS OF HIS MARIJUANA ADDICTION AND USAGE. ANOTHER OBSCURE EPISODE WAS A TAMPA POLICE STING OPERATION, THAT NABBED SAPP FOR ACCEPTING AND PURCHASING MARIJUANA FROM A UNDERCOVER POLICE VICE OFFICER IN A KNOWN DRUG-INFESTED TAMPA COMMUNITY. THE CHARGES WERE DROPPED, BECAUSE THE BUCS- TICKET SEASON HOLDER- JUDGE RULED IT WAS A CASE OF ENTRAPMENT, SIGHTING THE NOTION THAT SAPP WAS LEAD INTO MAKING THE DRUG PURCHASE ATTEMPT. NOT MANY READERS WOULD BELIEVE NOR ACCEPT THE COURT’S DECISION.

ANOTHER NEGATIVE ABOUT SAPP AS A BUC, WAS THE FACT THAT ON MANY OCCASSIONS DURING TRAINING CAMPS OPEN FOR THE PUBLIC TO WATCH, HE WOULD NEVER RESPOND TO THE ATTENTION OF BUCS FANS, NOR SIGN AUTOGRAPHS WHILE EXITING THE PRACTICE FIELD.

I’M A FIRM BELIEVER IN PRACTICING THE MEANING OF THE WORD- “ INTREGRITY”, NO MATTER WHAT I MAY BE DOING OR THE OUTCOMES OF ANY OF MY ACTIVITIES.

SAPP MIGHT BE A NFL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEE IN HIS OWN MIND, BUT I CAN’T SAY I WOULD VOTE FOR HIM.  THIS IS THE SAME PLAYER WHO COMMITTED A DELIBERATE CHEAP SHOT AT A PACKER OFFENSIVE LINEMAN AFTER THE WHISTLES WERE BLOWN.  SAPP NEVER WAS PROPERLY FINED AND HIS LATER APOLOGY WAS NOT CONVINCING. THE INJURED/ CRIPPLED PACKER PLAYER WAS NEVER THE SAME. SAPP WAS LATER SEEN BROWNNOSING GRUDEN AT ARENA FOOTBALL GAMES AND OTHER EVENTS, BUT THE BUCS MADE THE RIGHT DECISION AND LET HIM BECOME A FREE AGENT. THUGS, ABUSERS, & GOONS ARE NOT WELCOMED IN CANTON, OHIO.

I BELIEVE IT’S IMPORTANT TO PRESENT FACTS ABOUT SO-CALLED CELEBRITIES TO THE PUBLIC THAT THE MEDIA FAILS OR IS AFRAID TO MENTION IN DETAIL. THIS ALLOWS OUR SOCIETY TO THEREFORE DECIDE CORRECTLY WHAT OUR VIEWS SHOULD BE ABOUT PARTICULAR SO-CALLED ROLE MODELS FOR OUR PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS.

WHEN OUR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION COMES AROUND LATER THIS YEAR, BE SURE TO CONSIDER THESE ISSUES- THE INDECISIVE-U.S. PROVOKED WARS ON #2- FRONTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST, THE DOWNSIZING & OUTSOURCING OF U.S. BASED JOBS, THE RISING COSTS OF HEALTH INSURANCE, PROPERTY TAXES, CONSUMER GOODS, SERVICES & HOUSING. GET OUT AND VOTE!

HAPPY TRAILS, WARREN SAPP, THE STATE & FEDERAL PRISON SYSTEMS ARE WAITING FOR YOU
& YOUR POSSE OF OTHER LAWLESS, NFL HOODLUMS.
GOD SAVE OUR DECAYING AMERICA!

THAT’S MY STORY AND I’M STICKING TO IT!

Ummmm. Yeah. Sapp smoked a little bud in college and he has a “history” of drug abuse? That’s a very loose interpretation of reality....and most definitely living in the past.

Oh, I missed that last part. That crippled Packer who was never the same again was playing in the NFC Championship game the other night. Not to burst THAT bubble for you. And I do believe that everyone who has anything to do with football has since acknowledged that the hit was clean. Again, a very loose interpretation of reality. But the propensity towards CAPS LOCK makes me wonder if we should take you seriously.

IT’S COME TO MY ATTENTION, THAT WE MAY NOT SEE EYE TO EYE, BUT THAT’S THE ENJOYMENT OF WRITING OPINIONS AND EDITORIALS, “PROS AND CONS”. MY HABIT OF USING CAP LOCK STEMS FROM MY DAYS SERVING HONORABLY IN THE U.S. ARMY, SO GET USE TO IT, BECAUSE IT’S NOT GOING CHANGE. WHEN IT COMES TO PAST AND PRESENT EVENTS, REMEMBER THIS QUOTE-” LET’S NOT FORGET THE PAST SO WE’RE NOT CONDEMNED TO REPEAT IT”

cool hmm

FRANCISSOLDER.
You have your way of expressing yourself indicating that from Honorable military duties you type everything in caps, get use to it I won’t change. Thats pretty hard headed I would think from that gesture. I also served my country honorably for over 20 years but only those persons I observed that typed with two fingers always typed in Caps. Regardless of that fact we all have our opinions about Sapp, and where he is going from here, but I do not appreciate a send off like you stated. “Ride off into the sunset”, what kind of an attack is that, and to say about a Man that played his heart out for the Tampa Bay Bucs, only to be released as a free agent? I would like to see the average man including you, to perform in the fashion he did, gaining the respect of opponents as well as team members to be one of the hardest hitting defensive lineman on the team. Sure he probably wasn’t a saint, but he is not alone doing what you alleged he did do. But one fact i agree with you on is that he contributed to the team with such efficiency that aided in sending the Bucs to the Super-bowl. You have your opinion about Sapp and I have mine. Maybe one thing we can agree on, we will not change his destiny no matter what we say. His destiny has a lot to do with his own desires. The question is does Sapp really want to retire? Has he accepted that as his fate? He is the only person who can give an honest reply to those questions. Not You, or I, or anyone.

Francissoldier. I apologize for making the statement “Riding off into the sunset” you were mis-quoted by me. But you did say “Happy Trails Warren Sapp”, and it is a very distasteful remark to make about Sapp, and he doesn’t deserve that remark.

I just want to make sure I have this straight. What you’ve basically just said is that you’re too stubborn to open your mind to new possibilities, so I need to get used to it, yes? I might get used to it yet, certainly, but never mistake that to mean that I will agree.

And, of course, to further emphasize your statement that this is the “enjoyment of writing opinions and editorials”, well, that’s why I provided counterpoint to the fact that you stated that Warren Sapp has a “history” of drug abuse. Again, so we’re clear, one incident of marijuana usage does not constitute a “history”. I would venture a guess that well in excess of 80% of our population has tried marijuana at least once. By your rationale, all of those who have done so have a “history of drug abuse”. Would that be correct?

And, of course, there was the other counterpoint regarding the assertion that Sapp laid a “dirty hit” on aforementioned Packer player which caused a debilitating injury. Again, so we’re straight on my place in this, the hit was clean and in circles of common opinion, former football players and coaches have gone on record to agree with this statement. And, of course, the final point that same Packer football player was playing in the NFC Championship game this past Sunday, a good five years after this “debilitating” injury.

So, yeah, I disagree with your stated opinions and I whole-heartedly disagree with your usage of the Caps Lock key, mainly because I see *NO* correlation between active duty military service and the use of the Caps Lock key. Unless I missed something. Because, I served my time in the Air Force and, last I checked, it did not lead me to perpetual use of the Num Lock key. Maybe I missed that verbiage in my own “honorable” discharge paperwork.

This Shout-Out goes to Butchrgt and giles88

Subject: Sapp’s Retirement
24 Jan 2008

I never thought for a moment, that average people like yourselves would be so sensitive and insulting towards other rival Writers’ opinions and subject matter reports. It is not my desire nor goal to influence people’s views or seek agreeable responses. Everyone is permitted to post their own opinions and as fellow Writers, we should show respect towards each other.

You should maintain a much improved & mature attitude towards all Writers and Readers.
While you were painting rocks & cleaning latrines, for the Post Commander’s Visit or washing aircraft for the Airshows, I was writing and typing Military Orders. ‘Word Up!’

You should also stick with the subject matter and not post your individual verbal attacks towards Non-supporting Writers. Myself and others can appreciate Subject-related facts and statistics, to support your views, but leave your Personal- childish, verbal assaults to yourselves, and keep sucking on your Baby-provided pacifiers.

The TBO Forum does not welcome Playground Bullies nor Registered Troublemakers.
I can see that when you’re mentally challenged, your first reflex is to physically attack people.
Thank God, neither of you are operating the Control panels and Launch buttons for the U.S. Nuclear Missile Strike Forces, otherwise we all would be dead, and there would be no Writers.
So put away your Nintendo Gameboys and I’ll meet you in the Gym, after school and We can settle our differences once and for all. Don’t chicken out nor keep me waiting.

As Independent Writers, we serve a Valuable Reserve Presence for the Overpaid, Egotistic, Pompous, Prom Queen & King, Ex-Athlete, Celebrity Status Demanding, Agent represented Colleagues at the TV Networks and Newspapers, where Congeniality, having affairs & reading news lines from a TV screen are more important, than actual writing & researching skills. They are restricted from reporting their personal views and we’re not. Perhaps we should be on their Payroll or at least get Annual Bonuses & Royalties.

As far as writing styles, Freestyle-Freelance are acceptable, No one is posting their Final Research Paper or MBA thesis. Get a life, get a hobby, Chill-out & keep it real. I hope to see you at the next local Writers Convention. I’ve already invited the Hanson-Manson Brothers from the movie- “Slapshot” as my guests, so bring your gloves and don’t forget the foil.

If you’re looking for the next Buccaneer NFL Hall Of Famer, Mike Alstott-#40-"The A-Train” has my vote. Mike Alstott is a Team Player on the field and Community Helper- Mentor off the field.

As for Warren Sapp, he can share his experiences by returning to his “Crib” in the “Hood” as a valuable Savior for our Society by becoming a Volunteer Anti-Drug Abuse-Anger Mgt Counselor for Urban, InterCity School kids. I would hire the more likeable “Alvin & The Xmas Chipmunks” as new contributing Analyst-Commentators for the NFL Network before considering Sapp for a job.

Keep mixing Sarcasm, Humor & Facts as part of your Writing Style Recipe. This effort generates Good-Fun-Laughable-Interesting reading.

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Actually, I think we were both simply counterpointing. Albeit, in a somewhat sarcastic manner. On my part anyway. But, when making a persuasive argument, presentation is everything and I’m much more apt to take this most recent posting of yours seriously. I still think your judgments of Sapp are a bit harsh and unfounded. I tend to lend some amount of credibility to the “not-so-fan-friendly” arguments, but I felt like your statements were off-base. My two cents.

cool smile

Francissoldier.
I have written this article three separate times and for some reason when it comes to reviewing the contents, I loose the whole text..... The reason I am responding to your post is because I feel that this needs to come to an end. The confrontation in writing that has been created by Me, You and Giles is getting out of hand and very distasteful. We are not going to accomplish anything continuing with this dilemma so I would like to suggest that we put a stop to this attack on each other so that we may have more constructive things to say about this TBO site. Francissoldier if you feel I am responsible for this confrontation, I sincerely apologize. As for being insulting that is not really my nature and I normally am a very compassionate person. I have my reasons for being that way and it is nothing to do with backing down or being cowardly by any means. I have had a life changing incident take place in the last four years that had changed and turned my life around. I was always too busy for many things that I took for granted. But a heart transplant can change even the most stubborn or hard natured person. So going out of my way to help people and always trying to improve situations for the better has been a goal of mine since my transplant. I feel everyone deserves a second chance, and a helping hand to help themselves to be a better person. So in many ways your negative reporting on Sapp was also attacking my new life principals. I guess I just let it get away from me. This was not right for me to react the way I did, but I will not pursue this topic any further...... Sapp should have a second chance to play for the Bucs, if not then another good team. He should not be forced to retire by anyone, he should make the decision when is tank is empty. He is a free agent who knows maybe Dungy will look at him. The type coach Dungy is would help Sapp to become even a better person.
Ok, if you are in agreement we will put an end to this confrontation, and hopefully Giles will read this and also agree to put this behind us. I respect your opinion and hopefully you will respect mind. Agree?
