That statement shows the arrogance of the Clintons. Hillary Clinton is desperate. I don’t think that she was directing the comment at Obama. But, with Ted Kennedy recently diagnosed with brain cancer, isn’t that statement a bit disrespectful to the Kennedy family???

It isn’t about gender. If Condoleeza Rice or Nancy Peolisi were running, they would have a much better chance to be the first woman President. Clinton? Heck NO.

Maybe it wasn’t directed at Obama, but when you then consider what Huckabee said earlier at the NRA Convention after he and the crowd heard a loud noise from behind stage, you have to wonder what these people are thinking, and if they are thinking before they engage their voices.

"We have not gone through this exciting, unprecedented, historic election only to lose,’’ Clinton said.

I found this revealing quote a little while ago. Unfortunately, in any political contest there is a winner and a loser. This is something she is going to find difficult, but will have to accept. When will the final buzzer finally sound?

Clinton is playing to her supporters, hoping they will send $$$ to pay off her campaign losses.

Pathetic whining! Hillary can blame her arrogance and Bubba Bill for lack of support.

Yesterday, Judge Napolitano on FoxNews Cable TV gave legal reasons why the federal judge in Florida tossed the federal lawsuit against the DNC re: counting votes in primary.

The U.S. citizens have NO right to vote in a primary election. The votes from a primary election are counted or tossed at the pleasure of the political parties involved. As a lifetime Democrat, the Clintons know all of this. All the rhetoric about how votes must be counted is just a bunch pf phooey.

If Clinton were winning, she would not care about FL or MI. Maybe several months have passed since I posted about how I thought that the primaries were an unfair system. Now, I strongly believe that a general primary and a general election should be used, and the two major political parties dissolved.

But one person - one vote just doesn’t fly with special interest groups.

Well, I learned recently that Senator McCain said he was going to continue the fight against evil.

Tomorrow should be an interesting day for those of us following the election as we may learn what the DNC is going to do with Florida and Michigan delegates. I see the light!

It doesn’t surprise me that the Court would not overrule the parties. If this was a general election issue, I’m sure they would intervene. I am a strong believer that the rules should be followed so hopefully the outcome today will be consistent with party rules. It is also my view that those political leaders in Florida and Michigan who voted to violate party rules knowing the consequences should be identified and held accountable this election year and next.

In fact, it is my view that rule breakers in all branches of government should be held accountable by voters and this is a central theme of most of my posts on this site. Unfortunately, in Florida rule breaking seems to be institutionalized and common place, and is all to often ignored by residents.

Here is an interesting quote from VP Cheney on the gas tax suspension idea:

“I think it’s a false notion, in the sense that you’re not going to have much of an impact, given the size of the gasoline tax on the total cost of the gallon of gas,” Cheney said when asked about the matter during a luncheon appearance. “You might buy a little bit of relief there, but it’s minimal.”

It is surprising that he made this statement knowing that his own party’s nominee supported the proposal. Like it or not, statements by the administration such as this make it appear inevitable that Obama is going to be the next person in charge.

I disagree with you wassup.  I have more respect for someone that can speak the truth rather than blindly follow.  Cheney has a valid point in that the savings would be minimal and would not really be felt by the public in general.

Obama has yet to make his own party agree to nominate him for the race, good luck on convincing the rest of the country.  It’s going to take a whole lot more than disagreement about gas tax cuts to score Mr. Obama the presidency.

The rules of the Democratic Primaries stretch out the Democratic party nominating process. Republicans award delegates based on an all or nothing basis. The winner of the popular vote in each State receives all of the State’s delegates. With Democrats, the delegates are typically awarded on a proportional basis making the loss of individual States less damaging, thus prolonging the process but giving party voters a greater say in the selection. Hence, Romney get knocked out early but Hillary is in until the end,

Also, my point on the gas tax issue was that while McCain supports Bush’s policies, the Bush administration seems to have no problem throwing McCain under the bus. I’ll stick by my view that there appears to be an air of inevitability that Obama will win in November, but only time will tell. He’s ahead in the head-to-head polls, and I expect that to widen considerably.

But for the economic and tax policies, I would support the Republicans. I just cannot accept the fiscal irresponsibility.

Suspending gas taxes is a bad idea. We need to repair broken infrastructure and roads, not force workers out of work.

Obama should be the nominee soon. I hope that you will start another poll.

I agree with you that the gas tax suspension is a bad idea. It just struck me as disloyal to McCain for Cheney to not only express his opinion but to elaborate on the issue as he did. I know it was in response to a question but a simple, “I do not support it” would have been a sufficient response given that McCain needs all the help he can get.
Obviously, anyone can start the poll but I would like to see how things shake out this week and see what happens with the Clinton push for the VP slot. That’s the next big issue for Obama and for voters. As you’ve said it may be an issue for you as well, I think. Let’s start one this weekend if nothing changes.

I don’t get my news from the local papers other than what is written here so don’t know all that is available locally but here is something that I just picked up on the internet that I think is really interesting:

But the Wall Street Journal reported that Obama advisers had signaled an Obama-Clinton ticket was unlikely. The Journal reported that people in both camps said there was a stumbling block — that Bill Clinton might balk at releasing records of his business dealings and big donors to his presidential library.

I find this so interesting because I read a year or more ago that former President Clinton received a huge, and I mean HUGE donation (estimated $100 mil. +) to his Presidential library from a Russian who was involved in the oil or gold business, and that this was given in return for some connection or favor provided by former President Clinton.

I would like to know more about that wassup.  Do you remember where you read that?
