Mr. Cantin,

Thanks for jumping in! I hope you and your organization have taken my earlier comments and speculation with good humor. Of course, most of my vitriol was directed at the gas station that once occupied your corner. smile

My wife and I have been wondering about the apparent delays in opening. We felt sure CVS would be open in time for the Christmas rush, to capitalize on last-minute gift-giving, if anything.

Of course, what do we know about erecting a new building, complying with building codes and franchise requirements, installing the computers and lighting and shelving and plumbing and everything that goes into a modern store?

Can you shed some light on the delays, if indeed there have been delays? If not, how difficult is the process of moving employees, stock, etc. from the existing CVS to the new location?

Thanks again.

No problem, from the start of the project the original open date was supposed to be Feb 17th. The construction process actually went quicker then expected. They were finished with construction 100% the weekend before Thanksgiving.

This gave the merchandisers/setup crew one week to get the shelving installed before the holiday break. Which is why it sat so long. CVS merchandisers / Setup crews get the whole month of December off. However I had access to the building so I was able to get a few things done during that time.

Merchandising restarted the second week of January and there is now product flowing into the store. The moving process is actually very strenuous. It will occur next week starting Wednesday. There will be approximately 10-15 employees moving departments across the street each day leading up to Saturday. By Saturday the old store is expected to be empty with the exception of pharmacy and a few odds and ends. The old store will actually close at 6pm on Saturday the 26th and we will be opening the new location at 7am on Sunday the 27th.

Mr. Cantin,

Congratulations on your grand opening. I’ve only had one chance to visit - and it was a hurried trip to the Benadryl aisle - but from what I saw, it’s a well-organized place with a friendly staff. It sure will be more convenient for our family’s prescriptions!
