In my opinion, any crime of violance is a hate crime. You dont beat the snot out of someone because you love them, you dont shoot someone because you love them.
Sadly, sometimes violence is just business. It’s about money only.
For the life of me, I can’t understand why Gee hasn’t fired her yet. If this act was so reprehensible, so inexcusable, (which it is) then what is he waiting for? As I may have said, I’ve seen people fired at my company for much less.

I agree. i have seen paople fired for FAR less than this. How could Gee allow her back at the jail?
I think Gee is hoping the media coverage will simply stop.

Yeah, I heard that. It’ll be fascinating to see what her defense is. Let’s see: it’s not a lack of training; the prisoner couldn’t do much in the way of not ‘cooperating’; he wasn’t threatening her in any way. Hmm. I wonder what her reason was?
Marshall-Jones’ original unedited letter of resignation to Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee:
It is with sincere regret and remorse that I now find it necessary to leave an organization and job that had for 22 years become as much a fashion of a family member or body part as could be.
Please be aware that it never was, nor never could be my intention, to bring malicious harm or shame to anyone. That is because it is that I posses too much pride and integrity in what I do and who I am. But, In particular, to the individual, who has brought about such accusations to the contrary, I find it necessary to respectfully resign from employment with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
I bid many sadness laden good-byes and ENDLESS Thank-Yous for any and all personal and emotional support offered to me by everyone effected.
"Too much pride and integrity”, eh? Her “pride and integirty” were on display on the video. Actions speak louder than words. And regardless of what the prisoner may or may not have said to her, she’s still supposed to act professionally. She did not. In my view, she did the right thing by resigning.

We are still waiting for her apology.
For something she meant to do? She’ll toss one out in court(an apology that is), but how does that help?
A possible defense would be that she was unfit for the job and her supervisors should have placed her in another position which better fit her temperament which was formed by years of working with all of societies’ vermin. On the job too long. I’m sure her attorney will consider something like this. Spreading blame.
Should her supervisors and everyone down the line apologize also?
She will never see what she has done wrong. It’s an institutional thing.
I don’t think that she will spend any time in jail. Gee will arrange for a soft judge and she will get probation, as others have stated before me.
The Sheriff arranges arranges court venues. A little conspiratorial, don’t ya think?
If you’re right, the county has a serious governance problem.
I’m sure that there is a way for the Sheriff to have the right thinking judge take the case. He is part of the system.
Let me say this about Sheriff Gee. I have met him on several occasions. I found him to be a thoughtful and honest person. I have heard from many deputies when he took over that he was a toe-the-line kind of guy, and many of the good old boys did not like him. But he has been with the HCSO for decades. He has friends at all levels and all branches of government. He is loyal to his troops, just like any good commander. He also has a keen political sense and a good mind. He will find a way to settle this issue, and the others, and be re-elected.
Next week will bring us something else to be outraged about, and we will drop this like we did Susan Stanton.
