One’s first reaction to this could be to hyperventilate that this is “a nationwide push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schools”. In reality, when you read what their goal is, it’s reasonable: “ending bullying and harassment of students, particularly physical violence and verbal threats”. That, to me, is not an unreasonable request. You can choose to accept homosexuals or not—that’s a separate issue. But gays should be free from violence and verbal threats, shouldn’t they? There’s probably a lot of that going on in schools.

An effort to commemorate the day of someone’s death due to needless bigotry & violence is hardly “a push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schools”.
If they really want to make a change why just include on group of the population?? Why not have a DOS to protest violence of any kind for any reason in schools?

I agree that we could just have ONE day instead of individual ones. Otherwise, before long we’ll have a day for short people, fat people, homeless people, elderly people, etc. etc, so that nobody gets slighted.
We’ve already consolidated the presidents birthdays into one day.
First and foremost I am so glad my sons school is not on this list. I will not in anyway shape or form condone homosexuality or lesbianism. This is a chosen lifestyle. Blacks, whites, hispanic are picked on and ridiculed on a daily basis and I don’t hear of a moment of silence. Why should we make an exception for these people. This is an abomination to God.
While I agree that homosexuality is “an abomination to God”, that doesn’t mean we can’t recognize how these people are being treated, and do something to try to stop it. Remember, “hate the sin, not the sinner”. Your sons will undoubtedly come across gay people in their lives. How will they treat them?
We are teaching our son that girls kiss boys and boys kiss girls, NOT BOYS WITH BOYS OR GIRLS WITH GIRLS. He’s very much aware that homosexuals/lesbians exist. He’s taught not to hate them, but to pray for them and not judge them. Only God can judge. You are right, we hate the sin and not the sinner.

Wow, I hope you’re just kidding. “Executed with extreme prejudice”? For what? What did they do to you or anyone else? Who says they’re “forcing their way of life on you or your family”? In what way are they doing that? You and your family are free to live your life the way you want, and you don’t have to accept the gay lifestyle. I don’t. But I don’t condone violence or prejudice against them either. God will do what He will with them—leave it to Him.
Why do people, who claim to believe in a God who created everything, seem to have such a hatred of homosexuals? Your God must have created them the way they are so you should blame God.
