Yes it should make a difference, to Christians, if the reference is in the New or Old Testament. Leviticus condemns the “children of Israel” to death for any number of things including eating pork and shellfish. Do we post death squads outside Red Lobster?
Don’t Christians believe that Christ died to save people from their sins under Mosaic Law? The New Testament relates how Jesus stopped the killing of an adulteress with the phrase; “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”.
People seem to pick and choose from the Bible to suit their needs.

I could agree with your last comment. I can’t think of any passage in the NT that condemns homosexuality. Let’s have some of our Bible scholars go to work on that.
Namjah, do you deny that the gays indulge in obscene behavior in public?
So Disney’s sponsorship means its ok for them to do their thing in the bushes or on the lawn at Disney World?
Why should we care about what they do in private – is what I meant. So why do the feel that they have to tell us?
Bad Krusty, so you buy gays that you meet a drink…Is this an apologetic move or what?
Submariner, what exactly is paranoid about anything I said?
I don’t know about the idea of “tolerance”. How about just teaching mutual respect for everyone?.
That is something that the younger generation seems to know absolutely nothing about.
As to Jesus and the NT, Don’t you think that had the Creator intended for a homosexual union he would have created another man for Adam? No, he intended it to be between a man and a woman from the beginning, not the aberration that some want it to become.
Matt. 19:4. And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ “and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?’”
Consider: Since Jesus approved of His Father’s plan [i.e., one man, one woman, one flesh,] could we correctly say that Jesus condemned homosexuality?
Matthew 5:17 Think not that I have come to destroy the Law; or the Prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
Jude verse 7, Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves ever to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Verse 8, Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion and speak evil of dignities.

Well, I’ll tell you OhZone—there are obscenity laws, and if and when gays people break them, they’ll be arrested. Now, having said that, it seems like your idea of obscene may be a little different than the law.

But at the same time, God created people who are gay—for whatever reason, we don’t know. And Jesus never spoke specifically about homosexuality—one can only make an inference at best from the passages you cited. And Jude is not Jesus speaking.
I’ll tell you what Jesus would probably do—He wouldn’t shun them. He’d have pity on them—there would be no anger.
You two are missing the point. When I asked if it mattered, I meant that any reply, any proof whatsoever that homosexuality was disapproved of biblically, would not change your attitude about it one iota. That being the case, why does it matter at all? Its really a moot point, because in truth you don’t care about what the ‘good book’ says on that point.

I personally don’t care what “the good book” has to say about it. The superstitions of an ancient culture don’t hold much relevance for me.
But you quoted Leviticus to show biblical disapproval of homosexuality. As Think stated there are plenty of things that Leviticus condemns that modern day Christians have rationalized away as acceptable. Eating pork and shellfish, wearing cloth made of more than one kind of thread, etc. Why are those now OK but homosexuality is not?
Just so that nobody gets the wrong idea, the Day of Silence is not being sponsored by the schools. It is being organized by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network. I’m sure that 99% of the schools where it is being organized would prefer that it not be done at their school. The fact of the matter is that in a free country they cannot possibly stop it.
Likewise, Disney does not sponsor Gay Days in Orlando. It is organized by an outside group. Imagine that <insert your favorite cause here - gun rights advocates, evangelical christians, motorcycle riders, tattoo enthusiasts, etc> decided to have a large group of people go to Disney all on the same day. Could Disney legally prevent your group from entering? In China or Iran maybe, but not in the USA!
Bad Krusty, so you buy gays that you meet a drink…Is this an apologetic move or what?
Naw. It’s a strategic move on their female friends. If a guy wants to be with a guy, I don’t care. In fact, since he isn’t competing with me for the lady in the do-me pumps, the tart top and don’t call after hair style, I’ll buy him a drink. Also, it doesn’t hurt to sow a little good will in case he has a female friend who is looking for a E-Ticket ride.
It’s strategy and tactics, my love, the dance that is old as sex itself.
Or do I need to get crass to ‘splain, Honey Jane?.

What would that “attitude” be? I’ve said I disapprove of homosexuality. I do not condone it. I don’t support it. However, we don’t live under a theocracy is this country. If gay people want to march and have ‘recognition days’. they are free to do so. They’re also free to organize ‘days of silence’, and push them by whatever means are legal. But I ‘hate the sin, not the sinner’. I still respect gays rights to be treated as human beings.
As an aside, Jesus never condemned slavery either—and it was quite rampant during His time. Jesus would treat gays as He treated lepers.
Which is two people of the same sex can’t have sex. I learned that in school. There is no way of rewriting or teaching it.
But we haven’t cured one disease from it and another one is starting.
Our medical communities are not GOD. They can’t fix everything. There is only one way to have SEX. I sorry to tell everyone this it is STILL BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN. That is the part that has to be taught Loud And Clear no more SILENCE ABOUT IT.
Homosexuality is about a different way of co-habitating nothing more.
Denial. It’s not just a river. It can be a way of life.
Denial is forgetting about AIDS, A moment of silence should be for those who have died from Aids and for those who are stilling dealing with. Most seems to forget. I haven’t. Another disease has started and here we go again. A way of life or death I guess???????
Oh I don’t think anyone is forgetting about Aids. But really, just what do you want? It IS a way of life for some folk -they refuse to amend the behavior that enabled them to contract the disease in the first place. I do have sympathy for those who contracted it, but my sympathy wanes a bit for those who continue to practice the behavior that spreads it -sharing needles, unprotected sex, and in my opinion the worst of them: Willingly engaging in sexual activity and NOT telling your ‘partner’ that you have it in the first place.
I’m not sure what gets you up on the high horse regarding HIV, but I can’t imagine that anyone has forgotten about it. I see it everyday I work. While it is fairly prevalent in the homosexual community, its not some ‘gay’ disease (and I know of nobody who actually pushes that idea -save for a few nutballs like Phelps. And fewer still who seem to believe that it was a manufactured disease that was started by the US Government to target a particular race -except for a nutball or two like Rev Wright)

Opportunist.
Nightbiker,You’d make it in sales if you wanted to.
The US Government would never do anything to harm people, would it? Before I went in the Army, some old dude told me to never volunteer for anything, especially if it involved doctors and/or experiments. Seems like he was involved in testing nuclear fallout protection methods without revealing the risks.
BTW, I read something that said 25% of US teen aged girls has some sort of STD. Scary thought. So much for the abstinence programs.
