Amen to you fellow “Christian Whacko” - count me in...to those who do not agree, consider the fall of all the so called “great” empires...it can be traced to the decay of the moral fiber, turning away from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to other idols.  Here in America, we can see the fall rapidly approaching...take a look at society. It wasn’t through those “Christian whackos” who were and are upholding the basic tenets of a civilized society that has lasted throughout time, but through the downfall of the moral fiber being cast aside, the slow progression of so called tolerance as a platform for anyone but those who have a belief in the Bible to speak.  Well I have voiced my opinion, again, one who is to lead and manage needs more than sex and education on his resume.  Enough said, my opinion and I will continue to hold this opinion even if you whack me with the Bible that you so hate.

It is a real shame that so many of you have no knowledge or information on what trans-gender or transsexualism is. You post your replies and have no idea or formal education about what you are posting. A transsexual person suffers great mental stress starting as soon as they can remember. Usually around age 5 or so. Trans-gendered people suffer from a genetic problem which cannot be cured. They don’t just wake up in the morning and decide to become the opposite sex. That is what most of you think. Being trans-gendered also has nothing to do with sexual preference. I cannot believe there are so many ignorant people posting here who have no idea what this means. It is a genetic disorder no different that your genes giving you cancer or having a tooth ache. The transsexual has no choice. It is a genetic disorder with no difference than somebody being born mentally retarded or with no arms or legs. It is not a psycholgical disorder which can be cured in therapy. I am further disgusted at people who post comments and have done no studies on the subject. They are just ready to destroy this person who has been an outstanding city manager for 14 years. I think these cowards who are posting negative comments need to study the issue or not post at all.

I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think “role model” was one of the qualifications for his job. Second, I think clothes are immaterial to God; that’s a human construct. Third, what “problems” is he causing for you? If anyone has any “problems”, it would be his family/friends. Fourth, how is “our money” being spent on this? Fifth, if you would voluntarily end your source of income over this, I’d say you were the nut.

I am a born-again Christian and I find some of the views of my fellow brethren to be interesting.  I am concerned about the feelings of the spouse and child, but not because of the sex change, but because of the probable dissolution of the marriage.  We should be equally outraged when any marriage breaks up, not just because a marriage breaks up because of gender reassignment.  This is the hypocrisy in the church when it comes to gays and lesbians: we are quick to condemn their lifestyles while we overlook our own sins and trespasses.  We speak of Love and Forgiveness as part of who we are, but we only wish to apply it to situations in which we are most comfortable or which best suit us.  See you in church!

You’re so right. There was a column in the Tribune this week about the “Defense of Marriage Act”. The writer said that if you really wanted to “defend marriage”, then outlaw divorce.

WOW!!! You people amaze me sometimes. Everyone is so concerned about this gentlemans job performance and who is going to pay for the operation. Please stop to think about his performance up to this point the day before yesterday. This is not a decision that he made overnight. I am sure it is something that he prayed about, anguished about and has had so much on his mind that his performance will probably get even better now that he doesn’t have to worry about who knows what.

And about the insurance and who pays for that, I can’t think of any health insurance plans that pay for gender reassignment surgery. And...if it does, great, I am sure that he pays his health insurance premiums just like we do.

Give the guy a break, he is an exemplory city manager, and I am sure that will not change. I suppose I could make a joke about his salary having to be cut now because he’s a woman, but I won’t.

Good luck Mr. Stanton

Apparently his been doing his job correctly, he’s been doing it for 14 years. I’m sure he just didn’t decide over night to have a sex change, it’s been going on for awhile. No one has complained about him until now. Why does it matter who he sleeps with, how he dresses, or his personal life. It’s really no ones business. He decided to make it “public” before it became “rumors”. I give him alot of credit for that.
We complain about “Big Brother” knowing or wanting to know too much about our lives but yet we seem to find it completely alright to make someone else life (outside work) our business.
If we would all pay more attention to our own lives maybe this world would be a little better.
I didn’t think we were suppose to pass judgement..........maybe I read it wrong.

First of all, let me tell you that I am a trans gendered person. I am disappointed, although not surprised by the lack of support for Mr/s Stanton. Being trans gendered is not a choice we choose. It is also not a disease as someone stated. It is something we are born with. As far as getting married and all, yes a lot of it is societies fault. Society is what pressures us through our peers to hide who we are. Boys don’t play with dolls, they don’t wear dresses, etc. The same can be said in reverse. Girls don’t play with trucks, they don’t play football, etc. Some of which for women have changed. It is acceptable for a woman to wear mens clothes and considered sexy. You are taught as a child to be the way you are born, and if you deviate from what is considered norm by society you are scorned, just as most of you are scorning Mr/s Stanton. She is who she is by birth, not from free will. As it was said earlier, most religions teach tolerance and compassion, but most who are religious choose to be hypocritical instead of practicing what you preach or what has been preached to you. All any of us asks is not to be judged. You don’t know us personally and if you did, and gave us a chance, you would find we are just as likable as anyone else. You also may be surprised who around you may have this secret that has been hidden. Your best friend, lawyer, doctor, city official...etc. We stay hidden and get married because we think we can stop this need to be who we really are.We feel guilty about who we are. All because of what society deems normal.  I am in a similar situation myself, although I will not go into that. Innosed and cyndiann I applaud you both as well as all the others who have not closed their minds to the world. I am not normally able to put into words my thoughts very well, and I hope I have not just been going on, but I felt the need to try and express my feelings.

Good morning, first and fore most this is for the person who responded to my comments and stated i see you in church.

1. Before you roll out the church thing let me say the following to you:
All churches have there problems every single one of them thats why i chose the church of my home i give thanks to the Lord in my way and my way only.

2. I’m not judging any body here’s why cause i’m not perfect and there’s a saying “YOU THROW THE FIRST ROCK IF YOU HAVEN’T SIN IN YOUR LIFE” i think none of can do that.

3. If your that concern about passing judgment on others here’s another one “TRY WALKING ABOVE WATER” and if you can reply back to me okay.

4. Finally to my comments:

If you want to change who you are just remember this Church Person God created you as such and now your going beyond GOD creations of human life.

Last before i go shoot some golf is “yOU WON’T SEE ME IN CHURCH CAUSE MOST OF YOU WHO DO GO ARE A BUNCH OF HYPROCRITS” who just go to cover your lifestlys.

And yes i’m passing judgement on you ......................

Your post is so incoherent I can’t tell if you are supporting Stanton or against so I went back and read your last post and honestly that didn’t tell me much either.

Could you slow down and explain your posts so we can understand them?

nobody has to agree with my distaste (hold on i need some listerine) for gays and transgendered people but i sure dont want you to shove this stuff down my throat and make me want to think this is ok......as far as the doctors agreeing with people being born with this stuff.....of course they will tell you what you want to hear otherwise they would be out of a job........if i was a doctor and told you this is just an issue with you and deal with it why would you come back to me....i would be out of business......that is why these things take so long to let people get these operations....or butcher jobs as i call them..........

Why is it not ok larry? What is your reasoning?

Can you back it up with factual evidence?

I wouldn’t hold my breath on the evidence. I don’t know who’s “shoving this down your throat”, larry. You can still believe what you want to believe. Are these people “abnormal”? Of course they are, in the sense that the do not conform to the “norm”. The term “abnormal” is a perjorative nowadays. But just because these people do not conform does not mean they are any less human. If that’s what these people need to be at peace—and their not affecting anyone else’s life, then why not?
