I dodged a Bullet

Last month my sister, who hadn’t seen me for a year, commented that the blemish on my cheek looked bigger. This is something that I’ve had for several years. I blew it off as an age spot, a result of too much sun. I’ve spent many many hours under intense sunlight without sunscreen or even a hat. After years of fishing and snow skiing one expects some damage, right?

I usually don’t run to the doctor unless I’ve injured myself and/or I’m in some sort of pain.  Why bother? Anyway, I went to a Dermatologist. Diagnosis; Melanoma. Fortunately, it was caught at a very early stage (0). That blemish had transformed into a cancer. It was cut out and there is virtually little chance of any spread.

I’m posting this because someone’s comment caused me to think about my health enough to make an appointment to look into something that had been bugging me for awhile. I just wanted to share my good fortune and get someone else to act on something that’s been bugging them .

I have the same thinking as yours, shunning things that aren’t considered injury. In the past few months I noticed symptoms of carpal tunnel. But it doesn’t hurt too much, and fortunately, not a single glass of water fell off my hands yet. Until now, I’m still undecided whether or not to have it checked.
