I am sure that some of the same folk who think an Ethanol plant in Tampa is a great idea, go into apoplexy at the thought of offshore oil platforms. These drilling rigs are so far out that you don’t see them except by boat, and the fishing is good around them. You bring up goo from underground, pipe it to a refinery, and presto, gasoline.
Contrast that with Ethanol, where you either gobble up the existing corn production, which drives up the price of everything that depends on corn, or you dedicate more land to its production, thereby creating shortages and price increases in other commodities. Build your Ethanol plant near existing upscale housing, so they can be the recipients of noxious fumes to go along with higher prices for bread, milk, meat, vegetables, cotton goods, soy products, etc. etc.
Admittedly, oil refineries are pollutants as well, but they have been around for years and a homeowner is given the choice of living downwind from one or not. Residents of Harbour and Davis Islands will not be given a choice.
As for me, give me good old fashioned gasoline produced in the USA, and save the corn for my liquor.

So sorry , we need ethanol to help remove the OPEC tactics on our economy.  The rail network is in place and the “juice” has got to flow. 

You will just need to move.  My SUV, BWM , boat , jet-ski , motorcycle, racecar, farm equipment, Pool heater, 25kW generator, riding lawn-mower, chain saw, weed wacker;

ALL need that precious fuel.
