TAMPA - Former American Idol contestant Jessica Sierra is behind bars after Tampa police said she smashed a heavy glass over the head of a Hyde Park Café patron early Sunday.

Police charged Sierra, 21, of Tampa, with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon when she was arrested at about 1:50 a.m. Upon booking her, they slapped her with another two charges: cocaine possession and introduction of contraband into a detention facility. Police found a small amount of cocaine in her possession when she was taken to the Falkenberg Road Jail.

Sierra, 21, appeared on the fourth season of the hit FOX television singing show and finished in the top 10.

She is being held on $11,500 bail.

Ooops!  This was definitely and ARI/DRI, (Alcohol/Drug Related Incident.)
Been there done that!  The most important thing is for her to be admitted
for treatment, before she seriously hurts herself or someone else.  I’m
sure that this incident wasn’t unprovoked.  But one can’t lay hands on
another person and not be charged with assault.  It’s sad.  Hope she
gets some treatment for her addictions.

Strangely enough I didn’t even know about this girl until late friday night. She was at Pete’s Place on Henderson singing Karaoke, and she seemed normal. She defintely has a voice to her, but it sounds like it may come with a temper as well. Just funny that I had no idea who she was until Friday night, and two days later she goes all rambo and cracks somebody with a booze cup. Shame shame. By the way, she sang Killing me Softly by the Fugees. Ironic, as nothing about her assault seemed “soft”.

What a waste!

She needs serious help, and I hope she gets it.

I hear the guy she whacked with the glass spit on her first. Definitely a hate crime. Put our new Congress on it! Or maybe Rosie....or, we could fageddaboudit

Didn’t she used to sing the National Anthem at high school sporting events?

That’s so stupid.  It’s really not her fault.  It was the cocaine.

Well, what an interesting turn of events.

Absolutely Sierra was wrong in what she did and was arrested for same.

But, if my recollection is correct, the man she hit with the glass refused medical treatment. So what are his losses or injuries?

It just goes to prove there are so many shyster lawyers out there who are willing to bring a suit for anything no matter how trivial. And they wonder why lawyers have a bad name along with car salesmen.

I understand that the attorney wants to go after the bar as well, because Sierra doesn’t have any money. According to the lawyer if they didn’t use glasses in this bar, there would have been no injury except for perhaps a wet shirt.
I suppose now, in addition to a “no guns” decal on the door, there’ll be a ‘no drinking glasses” too.
Of course there will always be the criminal type who doesn’t obey laws, and they will sneak in a glass or two and wreak havoc with the place. As these violent attacks foment across the fruited plain, Congress will have to get involved and confiscate all glasses nationwide.

But...as we’ve heard many times, glasses don’t hurt people, people hurt people.

Why do “celebrities” think that they can physically assault someone and get away with it?  An “Idol” is supposed to be someone you can admire.  I commend Attorney Dennis Hernandez for representing the assaulted.  Mr. Hernandez has the reputation of being a “pit bull” when it comes to representing his clients.  Just the kind of attorney I would want on my side.  I think they should through the book at her.  Thank goodness no one has heard of her.  Could you imagine your child “idolizing” someone that is a drunk, junkie and brawler?

Molly, believe me, Pam Iorio is not one of my very favorite people, for political reasons, but I hardly think Ms. Sierra’s actions should have any reflection on our mayor. She has no control over what the young lady does.
Of course, if Mayor Iorio wanted to lay a two by four across her niece’s behind, it would raise my opinion of her a few notches (the mayor, not the niece).

I am still trying to figure out why this story even made the paper. Just because she was on some lame amatuer hour TV show for a couple of weeks? Last I heard she was slinging wings and beer at Hooters. I guess once you have your 15 minutes of fame, some people think they are celeberties. Guess what sweetheart? You were a nobody and you will always be a nobody.

It strikes me odd that this so called victim is suing for a 1/4 inch cut on his forehead which he refused all medical attention for.  The only reason he is suing is he sees $$$$ signs. He probably thinks that because Sierra was on AI she is rich.  What she did was wrong but what is wrong with our legal system is the shyster lawyers who sill sue for anything. And another thing wrong with lawyers is they open their big mouths before they even know what is going on. This is the case with Sierra’s lawyer who states it was wrong to release the video but in the same breath states he hasn’t seen the video. How can he object to something that he hasn’t seen? No wonder people hate lawyers.
